Scorpio - in Flesh and Blood ?

What more do I have to say about zodiac Sign Scorpio through which the Sun currently transits? Over the years since 2006/7, I've more or less exhausted possibilities. Currently, I know that a couple of valued regular commenters have personal experience of the sign, perhaps they will contribute observations on how Scorpio does actually perform in flesh and blood?

I haven't much to offer, even though I have one or two Scorpio credentials myself: natal Mars in one of its traditional domiciles, Scorpio. Scorpio's modern ruler, Pluto in my natal first house, and Sun in 8th house, a Scorpio domain. North Node of the Moon in Scorpio. Those, to me, are mere accessories, they don't reflect clearly in my personality - or at least not in a way I can identify from my vantage point - inside, but they might assist in my appreciation of others demonstrating characteristics of the sign.

Having natal Sun in a Fixed sign myself, I can appreciate fixity in others, Scorpio is one of the Fixed signs. Steadfastness and loyalty, for me, always trump shallow inconstancy and fickle flexibility, no matter how charming or exciting the latter can sometimes seem on the surface.

Scorpio by Ronald Searle from "Searle's Zodiac"

The only two friendships with Sun in Scorpio people I've had, both ended badly. I had, inadvertently, said something which upset them. I was not forgiven; we never crossed paths again. I have to admit to a streak of this in my own nature too, courtesy of Mars in Scorpio, but it is usually, not always, kept in check by milder traits. Interestingly, both those Sun Scorpios were also married to Sun Scorpios (and as I was wont to offer, facetiously, but not to them : "it'll save spoiling two other marriages"). Both couples, eventually, had serious marital difficulties.

There are a couple of comments, about personal experience, or in general, under these old posts that could be of interest in this respect:
Zodiac Sign Scorpio
Mars-driven Aries & Scorpio

Any passing Scorpio-types? Do please let us know, in the interests of research, how Scorpio actually rolls in real life.

The marriage that lasted the longest was with a scorpio, 17 years~!
on a level we didnt discuss with each other and were never able to explain to others when they asked- we KNEW each other. We knew what the breathing pattern of the other meant- thats the truth) we could communicate across a room filled with people without looking at each other. It was absolutely uncanny.
When I decided I wanted out, he grieved but he understood and I think in a way he was finaly free of the pressure I can exude upon others without saying or doing anything. so of course he being ultra sensitive, he felt that pressure the greatest.
I've known several other scorpios with whom I would have enjoyed their friendship, but they would'nt allow that to be and wanted to take it to the next level. I removed myself from their lives as I felt I had no other choice.
That's my story of me and scorpios :)
not sure where scorpio is in my chart or if I even have it.
I'll try to go look at that free chart I have and come back and let you know what it says.

I found this on a site--

2nd House Scorpio 23°37'14

2nd House in Scorpio
You keep your financial life to yourself, not wanting other people to know everything you have or don’t have. You can make a lot of money in your life, but it may not be an actual goal to do so. You can invest your money and see it pay off long-term, and do well with a business partner. You may need to transform your values and what you need to feel worth something at some point in your life. You can make money through something Scorpio-related, like science, secrets, helping people transform themselves or transforming items/property, or in finance.

=======
light bulb moment- maybe astrology does know some stuff after all. lol

my money was made with a scorpio partner- we built homes, flipped houses usually within 90 days and bought rental property, some of which I still own today and it provides a decent income.

----
I am amazed by what I read and how true it is. wow

OK, I have a membership in the Sun-in-Scorpio underworld...plus my Sun is conjunct Venus and Mercury, both combust. These three planets are in the sixth house at the midpoint of a Mars-Saturn square. Not a graceful configuration for the "Leave It to Beaver" lifestyle. I have a Gemini ascendent and a Virgo Moon...Sun is in the sixth house. A surplus of Mercury rulerships and my natal Mercury is combust in Scorpio.

I was a complete introvert in my early years...very insecure and self-absorbed. I loved observing, but not interacting, which many interpreted as arrogance, rather than the fear I felt. I had no true sense of myself to present to others. Transiting Neptune moved over my Sun-Mercury-Venus in the early 1960s, then the 1966 transiting Uranus-Pluto conjunction on my Moon in Virgo threw me into a deep depression in my teens, which was required to completely lose all sense of self and rebuild from the bottom up...very Scorpio-Pluto. Though I had no sense of my self, the depression was an extreme self-focus, which is a bit ironic. Transiting Uranus and Pluto over the next several years were conjunct my natal N Node-Saturn, and made aspects to Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars! This was a major turning-point for me...I tossed the depression, met new people that would become friends for many years, and got my butt into college. It was up and away from that point on, rebuilding from the ashes and I enjoyed the process.

People are still not my favorite animals on Earth after all these years! I made a living in the sciences, researching, and problem solving. I can typically sense or intuit solutions or smell a "rotten fish" when logic says otherwise. I'm a pessimist. I like my alone time...not necessarily isolation, but longer durations of solitude. I'm what would be described as "vanilla" sexually and I find that the non-Scorpio-others have far kinkier ideas and requirements than I! I'm sure that in my lifetime I have disappointed others and many have disappointed me...LOL.

Sonny - You have a late Libra ascendent...can't remember the degree...maybe 27*? This means that you have the last 3* of Libra and a large portion (23*37') of Scorpio in your first house of self. Many astrologers would say you are Libra first house and leave it at that. I say that you are a Libra with a lot of Scorpio coloring and influencing that Libra. Do an internet search and read about Libra or Scorpio in the first house and determine for yourself whether Scorpio applies. Either way, you do have Scorpio on the second house cusp.

mike (again) said...

Sonny - FYI, Saturn (restriction, lessons, evaluation, karma) has been transiting your first house (self) for the past three years, but has just moved into your second house (personal resources, income, values). You should be feeling much better right about now!

Sonny and mike ~ thank you both for opening up your personal real-life Scorpio-related experiences.

Unless I think of something more to say on the topic myself, I shall remain lurking and listening with interest. :-)

Twilight ~ This could be a long comment; I read somewhere once how Scorpio either talks a lot or very little, sometime alternating between the two ways of sharing.

So here are my Scorpio credentials: :) My Virgo Ascendant is ruled by my Mercury in Scorpio which is sextile and in mutual reception with my Pluto in Virgo conjunct my Ascendant from the 12th.

My Mercury is conjunct my Neptune-Jupiter (also in Scorpio) on the cusp of the 2nd/3rd, and my Neptune in Scorpio is conjunct my Sun in Libra.

Jupiter is the apex planet of my chart's Yod, which means it's a constantly evolving point in my chart, depending on transits and progressions. My Mercury, Neptune and Jupiter (conjunct in Scorpio) are the rulers of my chart's angles.

I also have a close Mars-Pluto square and my South Node (conjunct BM Lilith) is in the 8th. BM Lilith can have a very Plutonian feel anyway and mine happens to be the nearly-exact antiscion of my Pluto.

In spite of my Moon in Aquarius (which squares my Scorpio placements), I'm generally much more comfortable around Scorpio energy, the Eagles though, not the slithering types who take pleasure in stinging those they perceive as being 'weak' or vulnerable in some way.

Scorpios know how to spot weak spots and have the *potential* to dig deeply where others fear to tread, whether they do or not, or whether they use their insights and observations to transform themselves and heal others or for their own selfish, cruel (or vengeful) reasons is up to them. I think anyone with strong Scorpio energy is at risk for hurting themselves.

I've met some relatively light-hearted Scorpios who just wanted to form close, lasting relationships and share both good and bad times - and some whose manipulations and untruths made my skin crawl.

My dad was a Scorpio (Sun-Ascendant-Venus-Saturn) and our verbal exchanges (and his abuse) toughened me up and prepared me for life's dark side. In other ways, he was **always** there when I needed him - capable of deep, intelligent introspection and genuine remorse.

I've seen a lot and changed a lot during the course of my lifetimes, learned how to search beneath the layers to find the truth, how to use my gifts to heal rather than harm. I'm not there yet . . . still learning, still amazed by the constantly unfolding spiritual journey I'm on.

My Scorpio husband and I have been together for nearly thirty years, faithful for all of that time. He's the most loving, trustworthy, dependable man I've ever met. Sexy too.:) Scorpio energy intuitively knows how to do relationships, how to develop deeper connections without playing weird games.

Like Sonny said, my husband and I know each other's thoughts and feelings, sometimes without our having to use words - which is good since my husband sometimes forgets to use them!

Unlike me, who just wrote a novella, lol.:)

LB ~ Thank you for your own very interesting Scorpio input.

While I almost always feel very comfortable with natives of the other Mars-ruled sign, Aries (due to my natal Moon there), either in real life or online, I have to admit to feeling just a wee bit wary of Scorpio in real life, due to prior experiences.

Online it seems somehow rather different, for reasons I'm not quite sure about. Maybe we display more of our minor stuff and less of the major online than we do in real life...don't know.

My husband has no Scorpio planets, Pluto is tucked away in 12th and Aries Sun in early 9th, conjunct Mercury in late Pisces, and Saturn(which is just in 8th if birth time is correct). So not much in the way of Scorpio there.

My mother and my first husband were both Sun in Libra (28 and 27 Sept.)
I had some very uncomfortable rocky passages with both, probably due more to planets in neighbouring Scorpio/Virgo than any Libra influence, which is supposed to be highly compatible with Aquarius...My Mum and Dad managed 55 years of marriage until death parted them. He Aquarius Sun, she Libra. He was such a sweet, easy going man who only ever lost his temper with Mum when really, really badly pushed - then he'd let go and---whoa - better stand back in amazement! I only saw that happen, maybe twice - not physically against Mum though, more like throwing stuff against the wall (I remember a full bottle of ink going that way for example!) I'm more like him - and I do tend to stay away from bottles of ink!
;-)

Twilight ~ Online we have the ability to think before we speak (or type), whereas in real life we can't so easily conceal our immediate reactions. My 8th house is filled with Aries (including my SN), so I'm also comfortable with Aries energy, which also sometimes frustrates me.

While I appreciate Aquarius' civility, with one notable exception, I never seemed to attract them romantically - guess I was too intense! Never had a serious or intimate friendship with an Aquarius either, other than a few very brief, disturbing experiences with adolescent frenemies.

Your mom threw ink, mine (a Taurus with her Venus in Gemini and Mars in Aquarius) threw words and plates of food.

Have you ever looked at your and/or your husband's Draconic charts? It can be very revealing to see where and how our natal (Scorpio) placements relate to our draconic placements.

For instance in my draconic chart, my 9th house Mars and MC are in Scorpio (instead of natal Gemini) and draconic Mars is conjunct my natal Jupiter (the apex of my natal Yod) and squares draconic Pluto in Aquarius which is conjunct my draconic Aquarius Ascendant conjunct my natal Chiron.:)

It clarifies and makes sense! If not to anyone else, at least to me. Most people think I'm a Scorpio.

Oops, I blamed your mom for throwing ink when it was your dad. Sorry!

I just wanted to say a heartfelt thanks to Ya'll..

you are so generous with your information and knowledge.. these insights into you amaze me and if you wrote I could read for hours and never tire of it.
I'm taking baby steps to learning this subject and find it very enjoyable.
I've decided for my birthday I will gift myself with a reading. Not sure by whom but fate will lead me to them..

Mike, thank you.. I will go and look that up and come back to say what felt like TRUTH to me... I appreciate your guidance.

LB ~ I haven't found draconic charts to be of much interest, personally. I like to keep things simple as possible, using the most basic of tools available. For me, that offers the most proof that "something is going on - but we don't know what it is - do we Mr. Jones".

I'm confident enough in husband's and my own compatibility not to wonder further from whence is its source. His Aries Sun, my Aries Moon are good enough astrological proof + his true Moon's Node conjoins my Venus in Sagittarius too.
:-)

Just my preference, though - and I'm probably in the minority. I've stopped taking close note of what's going on day-to-day in my chart too. I'm happy, these days, to do what comes naturally, only worry if something worry-making actually occurs. I prefer not to be expecting either positive or negative events or trends. I'm happier and more comfortable that way at my age, for what are inevitably going to be my last laps of planet Earth.
:-)

LB said...

Twilight ~ My Scorpio parts, for better or worse, are rarely satisfied with simplicity when it excludes depth and breadth of understanding.

My Scorpio and Pluto parts are also sensitive to signs of dismissiveness in others, old habits I'm constantly trying to root out within myself.

Now, even if I'm challenging someone's opinion or perspective, I *try* to be respectful of their feelings and experiences lest I say something in a way I later come to regret, remembering how no one likes to feel less-than.

I never intended to question your husband's and your compatibility. It never even occurred to me, so I'm sorry if my comment about Draconic charts came across that way.

Twilight said...

LB ~ No, no! I Didn't take it that you were questioning compatibility at all - I was simply explaining my satisfaction with what I could find astrologically without delving further - more deeply. LOL! Your Scorpio sensitivity is in overdrive - and I thought my natal Cancer rising was pretty fragile, but I think it has firmed up somewhat with my re-location across the pond!

I do appreciate that Scorpio, in fairly heavy doses, can reflect a serious need to dig deeper, while Aquarius tends more towards plain analytic logic, and once proved to the enquirer's satisfactory level, Aquarius leaves it at that...and Aries is in too much of a hurry anyway. (My view only).

It's definitely on the cards that Aquarius/Aries/Cancer will not agree on some things with Scorpio-heavy personalities - but we can still find kindred spirit in other things.
:-)

mike (again) said...

Twilight, your Aquarius Sun is in the 8th house, if I remember correctly. The Parkers describe this placement as a need for knowledge and understanding. I think your blog reflects this.

I think you said that you had Venus in Sagittarius. That is probably anyjazz' 5th house (is by whole sign, anyway) and your Sun in his 7th house (or 8th) would make you an irresistible morsel to him...LOL.

LB - You said, "Scorpios know how to spot weak spots and have the *potential* to dig...". I won't defend the degenerate Scorpio reputation, but I don't think that Scorpio Suns have any monopoly on cheating, lies, abuse, skullduggery, etc. I have witnessed too many non-Scorpio-Sun individuals carry-out their incredibly well-planned destruction of others in a manner that left no incriminating evidence amongst the dead bodies. Perhaps Scorpio gets a bad rap, because if they're bringing you down, they want you to know it...LOL.

LB said...

mike ~ You're right, no question about it. And I should've said Scorpio, Plutonic and/or 8th house energy.

An astrologer once told me my retrograde Mars (ruler of my SN and 8th house) square Pluto in the 12th was meant to precipitate hostile and/or aggressive energy and learn how to redirect it - not just in myself but in others as well, without me getting too entangled in other people's stuff.

Adding how all signs have both negative and positive qualities and potential. Most of the time, I like my Scorpio parts.:)

mike (again) said...

LB - Often, planets in the 12th are less accessible, therefore out of the way (hiding in the closet!). Pluto in that house has pros and cons:

"Those with Pluto in the 12th house have a deep interest in secrets, the unconscious, and anything mysterious. Psychoanalysis, investigating dreams and other methods of uncovering mysteries are interesting to them. They may be exceptionally perceptive intuitively or psychically.

Stephen Arroyo: Astrology Karma and Transformation points out that the twelfth house reveals influences beyond our conscious control. Planets here symbolize forces which often overwhelm us.

Therefore the individual born with Pluto in the twelfth house sphere has the challenge of not feeling overwhelmed by the collective shadow of suffering, sadness and grief. Pluto in the 12th house has unfathomable and complex emotional guilt and feelings of persecution, and it is not unlikely for this individual to take on the role of family scapegoat. It can symbolise an obsessive survival instinct operating below the surface of consciousness, and way back in the psyche of the family. Frequently there is a dark history of abuse, brutality, or violence, and the individual senses that there is something shadowy lurking in the background."

mike (again) said...

LB - I have Pluto in the 4th. I agree with the following as accurate in my case:

"Those born with Pluto in the 4th house may have experienced something dramatic in the family home, and whatever it was, it can sometimes make them feel isolated and rootless. Perhaps there was much that was hidden or secret in their childhood, and this has changed them indefinitely. Crisis, deep transformations, fated occurrences and experiences that are intensified find their way into the home and family.

At the deepest roots of their life Pluto will be cleansing and transforming in the sphere of family relations and sense of belonging. The fourth house is closely connected with our deepest self, psychological roots, feeling of protection, and it is also connected to a sense of belonging."

mike ~ Lol! Thanks.:) Speaking of the collective, Neptune's transit through Pisces -trine my Scorpio Neptune-Mercury-Jupiter and opposite my 12th house Pluto- has kicked it up a few notches.

I've dug so deeply into my 12th house, I'm working on issues from several lifetimes right now, in addition to having uncovered major family secrets from this one. It's how I found my sister (Pluto rules my 3rd) and began to finally make sense of some of what I'd picked up on as a child.

With both Uranus (ruler of my Moon and Chiron) and Pluto (ruler of my Scorpio conjunctions) placed in my 12th, I'm all too aware of the collective and all those invisible voices. It wasn't always that way though. It's been work.

While I may be sensitive and fragile (yes, it's true Twilight - though I see those qualities as strengths rather than weaknesses), my placements have also gifted me with heightened intuition and healing abilities, and greater powers of discernment and compassion.

If nowhere else, I'm at least fearless in my willingness to venture into the psyche's dark places - metaphorically speaking.

We all have to deal with Pluto's blessings and challenges somewhere. Same for all the planets.:)

LB said...

Sorry, mike. I only read your second comment after I posted mine. All things being equal (and they're not always!), I think Pluto in any of the water houses (4,8, 12) can be especially challenging.

My sister (who was placed up for adoption before she was born and whose adopted father told her she was stupid for believing anyone in her biological family would want her for anything other than *his* money) has Pluto in the 4th square Saturn-Mars (in Scorpio) in the 6th. Even well into her 50's, she wasn't allowed to decide for herself.

Her (adopted) father died about a year ago, but she still keeps her relationship with her bio family a secret from the rest of her family. I still feel sad thinking about it.

And we're probably the least of her toxic secrets. A lot of the time it's what we don't know that hurts us the most, especially when we know (or sense something) but can't prove it - if you know what I mean.

LB said...

You know mike, your comment got me thinking. I knew I was my family's scapegoat, but actually it was more than that. As a kid, I, along with other neighborhood kids I grew up with, were also political scapegoats.

It's why I try to wait until all the evidence is in before assuming someone is guilty of something and also why I'm uncomfortable blaming all of our ills on a small number of people when there's usually plenty of blame to go around.

I know how terribly unfair it feels to be the collective's scapegoat.
