USA's Slide ~ JFK ~ Astrology of THAT Moment ~ Catch 22

A brief exchange between two commenters at Common Dreams at the weekend got my astrological juices flowing. The exchange was part of a conversation on a piece about the parlous state of the American electoral/political system, its downward slide, virtually hijacked by corporate financing, made even worse by the Supreme Court's decision on the Citizens United case, and how the "progressives" of the USA seem unable to do anything to turn the tide. Here

Contrary to some opinion I've heard and read (that it was during Ronald Reagan's reign when things started to go south for ordinary working folks in the US, and the slide hasn't stopped since) there's another, wider, perspective worth thinking about.

Clip from exchange between commenters "the puffin" and "Michael Desautels":
..because of the Citizens' United decision, the electoral process is no longer a viable option, much the same as pulling a ripcord at 60 feet.
It would have worked, if we'd pulled it when freefall began, like maybe after JFK was iced."

MD responded:
In my opinion, 1963 was a de-facto coup d'etat, and we have never recovered.

I haven't ever looked at the chart of the exact time of John F. Kennedy's assasination, though in common with all who recall that day, I do remember where I was at the time the killing was announced on radio in the UK.

Here's the chart for 22 November 1963 at 12:30PM, Dallas, Texas.

Was there, embedded in this moment - the moment described astrologically by the chart above - the seed of defeat for all future attempts to swing American politics more in the direction of respect and support for working people, a compassionate approach, provision of a national healthcare system, and a safety net for those who fall on hard times?

If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.
John F. Kennedy

These thoughts are simply thoughts, wonderings.....about a single moment in time. We are not absolutely certain when the political slide began. Some say it has been in place since the USA was constituted in the 18th century. I choose not to bring any of the standard USA charts into play though. There are too many of them - too many variables.

So back to the assassination chart.

Anything relating to progressive politics must link to Uranus and/or Aquarius. Destruction or the aim to destroy - human being or ideology - links to what the ancients called "the malefics" - Saturn, Mars, and in modern times we look on Pluto as malefic, or at best transformational, too.

Uranus and Pluto were within a few degrees of one another that day, but had been so for some time previously and would remain so for long after. So although that seems to be a "flag", it's not specific to the moment. The Yod (Finger of Fate) was specific to that moment though. Moon and Saturn were close together in Aquarius (Uranus's ruling sign) and close to the ascendant angle (horizon), Jupiter was in sextile to Moon/Saturn from Aries. Jupiter has often been noted as emphasised in charts connected with death, oddly enough (something that makes me wonder if its interpretation needs a do-over!) Those sextiled planets link via 150* angles to Uranus/Pluto. I can't give a definitive interpretation of this particular formation but it's spookily appropriate that the signs and planets I mentioned above as relating to progressive politics and death/transformation would turn out to be a part of it.

One more sidelight, which may or may not be significant: Fixed Star Zosma (about which I wrote a post HERE), is not known as being much of a benefic, and was conjunct Uranus at the time of the assassination.

Without getting into the hairy question of "who done it", or the motive involved, it seems that, as well as losing a president in that moment, America also lost all hope of ever attaining a balanced and just electoral and political system, fair for all of the nation's citizens, not weighted towards a favoured 1%?

The USA is in a bind. Corporate funding of electoral candidates, and corporate power over virtually all US media make it extremely difficult, impossible now, for a third party to arise and prosper. Or even for a brave Democrat or Republican to step forward and challenge status quo. They would be ignored, discredited - or worse (see above). To eliminate corporate money from elections would call for legislation. Those who make the laws are bought by the corporations. Isn't that Catch 22 - or something near to it?

Knowing how Joseph K. made his money, i.e. by distilling some poison at night (moon-light) in a barge off the Atlantic coast during the prohibition, then, turned illigally rich and having become some of the then leaders of Wall Street, also adding "mother Rose's savoir - faire" onto their life achievement, they got a "nice pudding" indeed!

The Johns and Roberts etc. were groomed from childhood to stand for what America should NOT be: the leader of the rest of the world. If the US was created as a "pure capitalist excess" in the 18th century, all that came thereafter was mostly "make-up", layer over layer.

The last ones of such layers of lies are now visible with Obama and the untold moneys his Federal Reserve under Bernanke handed out not only to banks, even some reportedly belonging to Quaddafi, but to the wives of several CEO's of major US Banks, who, helped (or instructed to do so) based on the "insider knowledge" of their very well informed husbands, amassed 100's of millions of sudden fortunes, borrowing at practically 0 interest rates from the Fed, etc. etc.

And these mega-loans are still outstanding! Anyone ever wondered why Bernanke (and his boss) are so reluctant to open up the Fed's books to the public? Michael Bloomberg tried, but with very limited success.

This is admittedly a "tirade against capitalist America". The Kennedys are more a myth than anything else. The root problem probably is an excess of ever more expert show and a stupid public ready to believe in any "American tale of success".

Gian Paul ~~~ Yes...I realise what you're getting at, GP BUT

The USA has always been a capitalist country, I think. Within a capitalist society there can still be balance and compassion.

From what I can gather from my husband and from older commenters at political websites, things in the US haven't always been as bad as they are now. At some point a "slide" must have begun then.

What I was whimiscally trying to see was whether the assassination of J.F. Kennedy could have been a kind of "starting pistol" for the slide.

I read this just an hour ago at Common Dreams - in a piece by Greg Kauffman

For Jack Frech, director of the Athens County Department of Job and Family Services in Appalachian Ohio, the fact that Congress and statehouses across the country are pushing budgets that would further cut assistance for poor people is downright frightening.

I’ve been doing this work for thirty years and this is the worst I’ve seen it by far,” says Frech. “And when I say the worst, I mean the absolute worst.”
Frech says his clients are now “double and tripling up on housing,” and “only surviving because they wait in long lines at food pantries.” They are forgoing medical treatment, and trying to maintain “some old junk car” so they can “put in their 15 or 30 hours—whatever they’re lucky enough to find—to meet their work requirement so they can continue to receive assistance.”
But they’re still not even close to achieving minimal security.
“People on our programs get all the cash and food stamps they’re going to get, meet their work requirements, and still run out of food,” says Frech. “So we have to give food boxes out of our welfare department. That’s a first and it’s absurd.”
Frech says when he began working as a caseworker in 1973 it was far easier for Ohioans and citizens everywhere to get the help they needed.

THIS IS JUST WRONG WRONG WRONG !!!
HOW HAVE THE COMPLACENT SO-CALLED MIDDLE-CLASSES ALLOWED THIS TO HAPPEN?

What a post, T! You snapped me out of the doldrums I was fair sunk in!
When it began I guess is irrelevant: I see it as the country which was founded by the wealthy for the wealthy with the table scraps scattered to the masses if they behaved themselves (think child labour, slavery, et al).
Now that the media is effectively silenced the masses are subdued by the slavering rantings of the Glenns and the Rushes with occasional sidelines by billionaire Trump who is honoured by Obama no less.
It will take quite a revolution by the cognescenti (and oh what a dwindled bunch they are!) who are being culled through poverty, no healthcare and even 'friendly' guns.
I say I have no hope at all and I truly mean it.
Everyone for herself.

Luna ~~~ Hi!

It's amazing, isn't it, how relevant Dickens remains. Written in London, on the other side of the Atlantic in 1843 - and still fits almost 170 years later and 5000 miles to the west.

WWW ~~~ Yes, it's not THAT important to understand when it started, or when it intensified - just a whim and experiment of mine really. :-)

It's hard not to feel negative about it all. Yet, looking back at the patterns of the past - look what the Sufragettes achieved against all odds - look at the Civil Rights movement in the US,
there are numerous other examples further back in history of what THE PEOPLE can achieve when they are sufficiently aroused.

We must not be at the point of - what's it called? "Critical Mass?"
Yet.

The worm will turn:

To revolt is a natural tendency of life. Even a worm turns against the foot that crushes it. In general, the
vitality and relative dignity of an animal can be measured by the intensity of its instinct to revolt.

Having read your comment and paid more specific attention to your astrological interpretation of the moment of JFK's assasination, I would add the following (but not recanting from my anti-capitalist tirade):

The Kennedys (not old Joe of course) managed to put themselves in the "right light of their time". So to say against the WASP America into which they were born and which certainly was replete with abuse and prejudice. They exploited this up to the very end, i.e. Edward's endorsment of Obama.

Was JFK's death a watershead, other than that which the rest of the world got to see: A ruthless country where not even their President was safe? Violent murder subsequently happened to his brother and R. Reagan was shot as well. And little clarity about who actually was responsible and the motives for these events is available, still today.

Astrologically, your interpretation of the YOD configuration makes a lot of sense, T.

Personally I would, besides your observations, point out that Uranus/Pluto impacting at their opposing point, i.e. halfway into Pisces, thereby highlight something "very little Christian". And that's what the then civilized world (outside the USA) was mostly shocked to see at the time.

The number of conspiracy theories immediately circulating did the rest, adding fuel to the drama. And this went so far as to have not disproven, serious suspicions still circulating today that who attempted at the Popes life (JP II) was actually the CIA, in a "double strategy act" and not the KGB. Again not "something very Christian", either way...

Gian Paul ~~~ Thank you for those further thoughts.

I don't know enough about JFK and his kin to make an informed comment about his motives. (I know that Joe K. was not well thought of) But JFK certainly seems to have been head and shoulders above any Prez the nation has seen since.

Yes, the USA certainly looked, and looks, to the outside world like a ruthless country. It might be more fair to say "a country with a vein of ruthlessness running through it". Ordinary people here, people who live on our street and around town are not ruthless - they are of vastly different opinion politically and religiously than I am, but that doesn't make them and the millions of people like them - and unlike them but more like me - ruthless.

There's a vein of sheer evil running through the bloodstream of this country, but it's only a vein - one vein in the whole body.
Scary thought, but possibly in part due to the country's young age, and violent and bloody beginnings.

The ruthless capitalist greed on display at present in the US is part of that vein; the poison is spreading. To carry on the medical metaphor - it'll take either surgery or a strong organic body of millions of healthy people to counteract it.

Not sure how astrology can help, going forward.....maybe Pluto into Aquarius might be another watershed to wash away some of the poison.

Agreed, most Americans are well intentioned people. The violence and ruthlessness manifest in various "things American" may go away over time. Imagine that the Brits also did not voluntarily stay in line from the beginning.

And the Japanese and other Orientals also had to learn keeping an even face the hard way, etc, etc.

You're right - it is Them - the global socialists cum MIC cum banksters who make the rules, e.g. the CFR and the agenda is a socialized federalism beyond national boundaries. They're not going to let just any president in anymore.

Twilight said...

Gian Paul ~~~ Yes. That old saying "Time heals all things" could be appropriate here. What will happen within that span of time is what will do the healing - we hope it will not be too painful a process.

James Higham ~~~ I'm not clear about those labels, James but I'm clear about "Them"....and whatever the label to be attached to what they have in mind - I don't like it!!!

I suspect they're pretty pleased with Prez Obama as things stand, patting themselves on the back for being so crafty as to fool the masses one more time - and are willing for him to carry on for another 4 years after 2012.
