US election cycles seem endless. One runs into the next with hardly time to draw breath, wage a war, or do down a few more of the poor and needy before the whole sorry mess starts again. Already there is mention of politicians declaring their candidacy for the next presidential election, to be held in November 2012 - and it's only April 2011!
Yesterday current president Barack Obama officially launched his own campaign for re-election.
There's talk of HUGE - really HUGE piles of money available to candidates on both sides of the divide - from (who else?) the corporations.
As I've said before on this blog - there's hardly anything to choose between today's Democrats and Republicans. They all work for the same master - and it ain't "We The People" - as it ought to be.
If you don't believe me (a relative newcomer to this land), believe the late George Carlin, who does not mince his words. Would that he could have stayed with us a little longer - we need such voices.
Come November 2012, the best courses anyone who thinks like me can make at the voting booth, unless there's a viable third party candidate available on the ticket, will be to a) abstain; b) write in "We The People"; or, c) using what insight and intuition we can muster, try to ascertain which of the evils on offer has the chutzpah and spine to keep the corporations happy while still helping the poor and needy and winding down wars - fast.... c) is a pipe-dream of course!
All of the above apart, seeing as we have to live through these incoming months and months and months of political circus we may as well look on it all as raw experimental material to test astrology. I've wandered around the net looking for astrologers' thoughts on the outcome of the next "do-over" in 2012, in particular relation to the current president's chances of re-election.
If it's early enough for them to be filling their campaign coffers, it's early enough for us to be considering their chances.
Here are links to some predictions I found, with a few lines from each piece. I'll add here that I like these long-distance predictions, they are made so far ahead that circumstances and events (of the unexpected kind) happening later on cannot colour these predictions, consciously or subconsciously - they have been formed purely from astrological indications.

As I'm posting predictions of some fellow-bloggers I ought to add my own: Obama is astrological Neptune personified in spite of his Leo Sun/Aquarius rising/Gemini Moon. Fog and illusion/delusion surround him. Gemini Moon has a scent of the Trickster about it, adding to the illusion. He'll use his Neptunian talent for illusion again, it'll be less effective this time around because many of his past followers have seen through him (myself included). Unless his opponent whoever he/she is has comparable Neptunian powers and can work similar "campaign magic" on gullible crowds, Obama will be our president for another term.
Maybe what we on the REAL left need, is "a hero" to join the race. Cue Bonnie Tyler"

We must be vigilant to make sure that we record the time and place the candidates make their announcements (that they will run) because they can be extremely useful in determining what the themes of the contest will be, as well as who may end up being the winner.
Neptune ingress into Pisces
Considering Obama’s strong ties to Neptune, I think the Neptune ingress in April will most likely be relevant for him. Knowing his history with the planet, all his major political success has taken place while Neptune has been in Aquarius. It is his 1st house, he became famous under Neptune’s opposition to his Sun in Leo and even became President while it was on his Ascendant. When Neptune moves into Pisces, he may lose his magic touch for good. However, once it is in Pisces, Neptune will square his Moon at 5 Gemini. This could represent one final burst of his campaign charisma, although it will be very different for him this time around.

President Obama’s approval ratings will go up after June/July 2012, and the public opinion will again shift in his favor just before 2012 elections Hillary Clinton will replace Joe Biden for the Vice President’s position in 2012 elections.
Obama will win 2012 elections very easily and will get re-elected as the President of United States for the second term. Year 2013 and 2014 will be the golden years in Obama’s second term and for United States President Obama will run out of luck between Oct 2014 and Dec 2015 when transit Saturn will be in Scorpio.

So now for the next election. 06 November 2012 – Presidential election. Solar Eclipse trine Jupiter Lunar Eclipse trine Sun Full Moon trine Pluto They are very promising lunations, and added to that Pluto transit he would have a good shot at it if he does run.

President Obama’s Astrological chart has a particularly lucky aspect in that, it’s not that he wins his races — it’s that his opponents lose the race. Between September 2011 and October 2012 President Obama is in a politically vulnerable phase: will face big challenges, roadblocks and adept political adversaries. But, if he chooses to run in 2012, once more, it will be his opponent – who wins or loses the race.

I've backed away from all of this political commentary as you know, T. The light bulb went off many years ago and my hope for change fled. And now I look at our upcoming election (jokey word, really) and for the first time wonder if I should vote at all. it is all rather hopeless, like George says, there is no point. Thugs and charlatans and liars rule and can't be arsed about we the people.

I don't know anyone who's voting for Obama in 2012. And this is coming from a life-long Democrat from a family of Democrats!
Astrologically, Obama will also be contending with a T-square from Tr Saturn to his Jupiter/Mercury opposition. So the optimism (Jupiter) he so skillfully communicated (Mercury) even at the expense of facts and details (Jupiter winning out over Mercury in their opposition) will be severely challenged by Just Stick to the Facts Saturn.
I wonder if We the People will be questioning him or if the Media will finally take away the pillow and start doing their job?
Either way, Saturn is definitely throwing a wet blanket on the whole shebang.
And I still wouldn't rule out Hillary in 2012. Her astrology is, in my view, more impressive that year than his.
Hi, thanks for mentioning the PAB (Political Astrology Blog). I though you might like to see our new post on Obama's announcement:

Also I agree with you that Obama is Neptune-y although I see it a bit more positively. Mainly the astrology backs it up: http://politicalastrologyblog.com/2009/01/08/barack-obamas-rise-to-power/
Apologies for some broken image links, we're trying to fix them as fast as we can. (Merc Rx!)
WWW ~~~ Sometimes things can change though. I agree it's highly unlikely, especially in the USA.
I'm going to "hold out for a hero" - a challenger from the left in the 2012 presidential election.
Unlikely, I know.
Even if the challenge came to nothing - as it likely would due to corporate $$$$$$$$ and the corporate-run MSM against it, it would open that crack and let the light flood in a wee bit more strongly.
Kicksotic ~~~ Hi there!
Yes, 2012 election won't have the euphoric flavour of the last go-around, that's for sure.
thanks for pointing out some of the astrological opposing factors
to a second Obama presidency.
From reading around it appears that a challenge to the Prez from inside the Dem. party is unlikely - more's the pity. hillary has said she won't do another stint as Sec. of State though. Maybe she's angling to be the next VP, ready to step in as candiate for the presidency in 2016.
Patrick Watson ~~~ Hi! Thanks for popping in and for supplying those links. Will keep an eye on them in future too, as things unfold.
Looking at O's Neptune-ness from his point of view - yes it's "a good thing" for him. Looking at it from the point of view of We the People - not so much
;-)
Patrick....PS I've added The Political Astrology blog to my Trines links - had missed doing so previously. :-)
Obama will win 2012 elections very easily and will get re-elected as the President of United States for the second term.
It does seem that way.
James ~~~ As things stand, I think so - but...but...things sometimes fall over.
;-)
Carlin's right. We all know it, intuitively, yet for some profound reason, continue voting for one of two political parties during every election.
I've usually voted third party for president each election cycle, although I was duped into believing in "hope" this last go-around (and, not to mention, my state was deemed one of those swing-states in 2008). Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...
As the Pete Townshend song exclaims, I won't be fooled again.
Jefferson's Guardian ~ Yes, there's a disconnect between what people think and what they do in the voting booth - almost as thought they are hypnotised.
The media have a lot to do with it - subtle and ongoing brainwash.
Then again - so many people just don't vote at all and have no interest in doin so - they could be the ones who "know".
If there's a 3rd party on our sheet my vote will go there this time - but I suspect there won't be. In OK they are very tight about allowing third parties onto the ballot. It'll probably have to be a write-in - for Prez at least.
Yes, I know. I lived in OK more years than I care to admit. It seemed like a lifetime...and a lifetime ago.
I don't know whether non-voters really "know" (and consequently don't bother), although I'm sure there are some. I'm more of the opinion that they're too preoccupied with other things and don't want to be bothered. If they truly were in the "know", I would think they'd vote third party -- any third party -- or, if not available, resort to the most narcissistic choice of all: themselves. Either way shouts a profound message! Otherwise, their destiny dies in a muffled whisper.
Jefferson's Guardian ~~~ Nicely put "destiny lies in a muffled whisper"
:-)
So what we need is to occupy the pre-occupied with thoughts of politics. Not an easy task.
But unless more non-voters wake up, and realise the bad situation the same ol' same ol' is bound to continue.
No, Twilight, it isn't an easy task -- not an easy task at all.
Years ago there used to be a commercial on American TV about the dangers of high blood pressure. The enduring message at the end of the ad warned everyone to make sure they were checked for this symptomless disease, lest they die from "the silent killer".
Our "inverted totalitarian" system is the silent killer of our democracy. Unlike the dictators of the past, these rulers operate anonymously and under the surface. They're faceless and, for the most part, unnamed. They direct and steer the economy, along with the lives of the vast majority of us, through the unregulated and unmitigated movement of capital around, and throughout, the world. They don't have to be visible, with tanks rolling through the streets, or troops stationed at every corner. All they have to do is control the flow of vast amounts of money.
Meet the new "silent killer". It's there. It's just not seemingly apparent. But it's deadly just the same.
Jefferson's Guardian ~~ Thank you for your input and insight. I value it.
Those who think along these lines (I do) are swimming upstream and a little mutual support makes things feel that much sweeter in a sour situation.
:-)
Astrology means the study that assumes and attempts to interpret the influence of heavenly bodies on human affairs, so I am also believe in horoscope too.
