THE GOOD, THE BAD, and the ugly truth.

Once again, Shepard Smith proves that he's the one news anchor at Fox News to have any semblance of conscience and intellect. See HERE There's a video of the incident included at the link.
"The Fox Report" on Fox News, hosted by anchor Shepard Smith, ran a piece by reporter Dan Springer on how Canada's single-payer health care system is forcing Canadians to come to the United States for care because the waiting period for treatment is too long. The report was intended to contrast negatively with proposals in the U.S. to include a public option in health care reform, however Smith questioned whether the report they just ran was actually fair....."

This may not seem like much, but I'd give Shep Smith yet another gold star for it. At the very least it might encourage viewers to stop and think, or ask a few more questions of their representatives.

My previous posts on Shepard Smith and his astrology are at:
Shepard Smith - Fair and Balanced
and Shepard Smith of Fox News.

That news item ties in with something I've been steaming about for a couple of days. I wrote to our two Senators a while back, urging them to support a public option as part of the proposed health care bill in the USA. Both our Senators had indicated that they intended not to support this proposal. I didn't expect to hear anything further, but writing helped me feel I was doing what I could. I received a response from one Senator: James Inhofe.

What was written would be funny if it wasn't so damned pathetic. He has sent me what I assume is the standard response prepared for sending to "pesky left-wingers" like myself who dare to write in. He has the gall to criticise the UK National Health Service, and the Canadian system too, offering examples of their faults. He neither knows nor cares, of course, that one recipient of his letter spent most of her life under the wing of the National Health Service and sees the lies in his letter for exactly what they are. For myself it doesn't matter, but for others who receive a copy of the same letter, without the experience I'm so lucky to have had, it is tantamount to brainwash.

Sen. Inhofe and his astrology have been the subject of two of my previous posts:HERE
and HERE

I've also read this week that Sen. Inhofe is to attend the international meeting on climate change in Copenhagen. See here. He gives this peaceful state of Oklahoma a bad name.

"How more removed from the day-to-day reality of most Oklahomans can you get than flying to Copenhagen, Denmark to tell the international community the United States will not pass legislation anytime soon dealing with global warming?

But that’s just what U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe says he intends to do, according to the National Review. Inhofe says he will lead a “truth squad” to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen this December. This squad will argue there’s not enough support in the U.S. Senate to pass a bill."

I don't blame James Inhofe for being who he is, he can't help it. I blame the people of Oklahoma for voting him into the Senate and giving him such power over their lives.

Shepard Smith ~ Fair & Balanced

Shepard Smith of Fox News is keeping the flag of reason flying in the face of some of the most unreasonable talking heads I've ever seen on TV, on either side of the Atlantic. I first noticed Smith last year, took a look at his natal chart - see this post.

His time of birth isn't available. This chart is set for noon, the rising sign isn't accurate, and the Moon's degree remains unknown, though it will be in Capricorn whatever the exact time. For rising sign, I'd take a stab at Libra- his wide apart eyes, good looks and "fair and balanced" approach. But that'simply a wild guess.

He has a nice balance of Capricorn and Aquarius. Capricorn represents the status quo, the old guard - Republican thinking. Aquarius represents change, social awareness, the avant garde, more modern mindset - left-wing politics. Although Shepard Smith is a highly paid employee of the most right-wing TV channel there is, he's not afraid to voice opinions (and in no uncertain manner) which, at times, conflict with the "party line". I see this as a clear reflection of his natal Capricorn/Aquarius cluster.

Two good examples came up last week.

2. Re: E-mails from right-wing fanatics with guns

Way to go, Mr. Smith !!

Shepard Smith of Fox News

Trying to limit keyboard and mouse time, in order to rest my frozen shoulder, I've been tuning in to a few late afternoon TV news programmes. I surprised myself by finding a news anchor I could tolerate, even enjoy, at of all places, Republican-leaning (leaning is really too restrained a description) Fox News. Newsman in question: Shepard ("Shep") Smith. Unlike some other Fox presenters he hasn't seemed overtly partisan, at least during the times I been watching. He's attractive, always a plus, and I find his voice has a rather addictive quality. But more than this, he seems like a genuinely nice and caring guy, with a ready sense of humour.

I've taken a look at his natal chart. No time of birth available so a 12 noon version has to suffice. This won't show an accurate rising sign or exact Moon position, but planets in signs will be accurate.

Aha! Three planets in Capricorn : Sun, Mercury and Moon (though Moon degree uncertain), and three in Aquarius : Mars, Saturn and Venus. That takes care of most personal planets, apart from Jupiter, and it lies at 12 Aries (same degree as my own Saturn - maybe that's why I've taken a liking to his style.) His basic nature then is a mix of Capricorn and Aquarius, signs traditionally ruled by Saturn, but in modern astrology Uranus has taken over rulership of Aquarius. He's what I call a Saturn Hybrid (see here). He has all the seriously conservative down to earth attitude of Capricorn, blended with Aquarius's modern outlook and a dash of quirkiness, a good blend in a newsman. It'd be really interesting to know his rising sign. I'd guess either Taurus or Libra rising (both ruled by Venus. Shepard Smith has those wide-apart eyes and attractive features often found in Venus people. He doesn't have the angular cragginess associated with Capricorn, so his looks don't come from his Sun sign.

When reporting serious or sad news items Shepard Smith's voice takes on a soft compassionate tone, calming and reassuring. It was this which first caught my attention, I think it was as he was reporting on people who refused to leave Galveston before Hurricane Ike hit. Chiron(The Wounded Healer) in compassionate Pisces opposing Uranus and Pluto in critical Virgo might have something to do with this facet of his nature.

Mercury (communications planet) in Capricorn trines Uranus and Pluto in Virgo, and squares Jupiter in Aries. More reflection of a serious and critical side often obvious when he interviews guests who continually prevaricate, but which is at times challenged by his unexpected ability to see and express the funny side of certain news stories.

I'd like to see Mr.Smith moderating a presidential debate - my wish is shared by Bob Sassone at TV Squad, who says:

"Shepard Smith (FOX News). Here's another guy who often asks the questions that viewers want answered, and asks them in the (way) we would ask them too. I also have the feeling that although he would be professional about the debate, he'd be funny and snarky too."

It's too late now to see Mr Smith hosting a debate this year, perhaps by 2012 they'll need some new faces to replace the elders we've seen doing the job this time around.

Here's Shepard Smith telling about one of his e-mail correspondents:
