THE WEEK THAT WAS ~ Julian Assange ~ Neptune ~ Mercury Retrograde

Writings and comment on Wikileaks and Julian Assange has filled cyberspace and other public spaces this week with the most words written on a single topic since the BP oil spill.

My (very personal) view of the situation varies from most others I've read. I have a strong feeling that all is not straightforward. There's "something else", some secret motivation ? I don't know. But I can't raise the same level of enthusiasm and support for him this time around. Gut-feeling.

Something about the latest release of hundreds of thousands of diplomatic cables, embarrassing to those in power, but not in the same league as previous whistle-blowing efforts, doesn't strike the same note for me, and I get to wondering.

It's not that I don't have great respect for the courage of Julian Assange and what he had done before the latest scenario. In fact I wrote about earlier Wikileaks "exposures" in a post headed Wikileaks, Pluto & Galactic Center. At that stage Assange's birth data was a mystery, it is now available.

A similar Neptunian fog surrounds Assange as that surrounding President Obama. There's a lot of Neptunian fog around in general just now in the USA. Neptune connects to mystery, illusion and delusion - mental fog. Assange is supposed to be trying to clear foggy areas, but in the process causes the mists to swirl dangerously.

Assange's natal chart ought to provide some clarity on his true personality. The rape charges he faces only add to the fog; they have been, more than likely, "trumped up".

Numerous astrologers have already published interpretations of Assange's natal chart. It does not behove me to argue with what any of them have written. Instead I'll offer links to several pieces I've come across so far, and let any passing reader who has missed these make up their own mind on the matter.

Some articles by astrologers interpreting the natal chart of Julian Assange:

ERIC FRANCIS.....(also Mr Francis's responses to skeptics in this respect at Boing Boing)

MARY PLUMB at Mountain Astrologer ....And a second one relating to the birth time

DARK STAR ASTROLOGY

LYNN HAYES at Belief Net

ASTROPOST

ROBERT PHOENIX
TARA GREENE

Below is the natal chart of Julian Assange constructed from data available. His date and place or birth are said to have been taken from official documents, so ought to be reliable. Even so, I retain a wee bit of doubt, he being in the business he's in! The birth time is the most open to question, but as it's the only one available I've included it below.

My single comment here is to note that (if birth time is near correct) foggy Neptune lay in Sagittarius in the first house of self as he came into the world. Neptune was within a few degrees of Jupiter (the publication and exaggeration planet and ruler of Sagittarius), though in the adjacent sign, Scorpio. For me this is the most significant factor in the chart.

Believe nothing you read and only half of what you see in matters relating to Mr. Assange.

IN OTHER NEWS

Mercury Retrograde - or its shadow - are under investigation, Chez Twilight, for causing chaos on this blogger's computer.

The current Mercury Retrograde period proper started yesterday, 10 December (ends 30th) but the so-called shadow period, when some astrologers consider effects can often be recognised, ran from 22 November (ends 18 Jan. 2011).

I've had a recurring computer problem with viruses and/or trojans (mbr rootkit and alureon) from late November until yesterday. On 1 December, after all my own efforts to eradicate the infections from my system had failed I enlisted the help of an on-line technician who could access my computer remotely. He did what seemed like a good job, it took almost 2 hours (costing $90!) - with a 7-day warranty.

Yesterday, 10 December, the problem returned. I contacted my remote techie who very kindly classed that day as being the last of my warranty period, and went through the whole long rigmarole of catching and killing the virus again at no further charge. He advised me to change my anti-virus software, recommended ESET NOD32, which I have now acquired.

What I probably need, though, is a way to eradicate Mercury Retrograde!

Assange has some friends in this world, Putin, Lula here in Brazil. Mostly people who do not so much like America's "leadership" in this world. Some voices also saying (in Europe) that "Hillary is up to her old tricks".

Which made me look up Mrs' Clinton's horoscope. And what do I see? Assange is her "Soul Mate"! Seldom did I see such overlaps of important planets. And now I am not surprised that she recently stated that her present job will be her last public job. Assange did it...

A. has Neptune at 0 degr.43 Sag./C. has Jupiter at 0 degr. Sag.

A. Puts his Moon over C,s Sun, early Scorpio

A. has Venus at 25 degr. Gemini, exactly over C's retrograde Uranus

A's South Node is conjunct C's Mars/Saturn at 14-15 Leo

A's Uranus is conjunct C's Neptune, 9-11 degr. Libra

And FOREMOST: A's Mars at 21 degr. 33' is exactly opposing C's Saturn at 21 degr. 27 Leo.

As far as my interpretation goes: A has done his job, he's now famous, for the better or the worse. America certainly has "some egg in it's face".

Gian Paul said...

Correction: Hillary C. has her Jupiter exactly at 0 degr. 39 Sag.

Have you read Robert Phoenix's take on the Assange birthchart? And some of the 'facts' of Mr. Assange's antecedents? Par for the course with Mr.Phoenix, his remarks and conjectures are unusual and provocative. Check it out. Curioser and curioser.

Gian Paul ~~~ Thanks for that. It adds yet another layer of mystery to the scene, doesn't it!

hmmmmm......

Twilight said...

Sabina ~~~ No - I hadn't read that.I usually do pop in to read Robert's posts, but this week I'd been distracted by my virus problem, so missed that one. Have read it now though.

I'm glad I'm not the only one sensing "something else" - though not quite understanding what that "something" is.

Thanks for the heads up about Robert's piece.

The mystery deepens.

Thanks - yes, the 'puter seems clear of the lurgies now.

Hi Twilight:
Yes, Julian Assange was the subject of much debate in the astrology community over at Facebook. In addition to the links you indicated, Donna Cunningham at Sky Writer, also did a post on the controversy surrounding his birth time.
My question is how much the leaks coming from his organization will fuel the Republicans and all those who want stricter rules concerning the internet. Here is the perfect excuse to gain control on who has access to the internet.
The other subject discussed over at Facebook was the effects of Mercury Rx on how often or how easy it was to write astrology blog posts during the Rx period. It was interesting to notice that a lot of astrology bloggers (myself included) suffered from a dry spell during the shadow period but found their creatives juices flowing again once Mercury started its retrograde motion. Any comments?
Finally, and I apologize for the mishmash of answers, but I would like to offer some suggestions for your computer troubles. First ESET NOD 32 is really good. Secondly, in order to prevent problems with spy ware, virus, spam, etc... I run more than one software. Each virus protection software program has its strong points and weaknesses. So I have a couple of them and what one software does not pick up the other does. More work, but a lot less troubles.I do that also with firewall.

Hi Fabienne (Astrology Unboxed).
I copied your comment as it hadn't arrived on blog - don't know why.

Thanks for the info from Facebook.

I have wondered whether the Wikileaks business will be used as an excuse to gain control of the internet. We shall see!

Re Mercurey Retro and writers' block etc. - Because of my frustrations with the computer virus I was anxious to get something into draft so it wouldn't be lost if I crashed, so I did the 5 days of Feminine thing "on the run" - which helped a bit - otherwise I might well have experienced a blockage.

Every weekend, though, I am sure I won't come up with a week's worth of posts, so Mercury Retro can't be blamed all the time. ;-) Winging it works as a rule.

I had to disable my existing anti-virus in order to install ESET NOD32, so can't use two softwares together unfortunately. I do have Malware Bytes on hand though (the free version), to scan frequently for intruders who got past the guard dogs. :-)

My solution to virus woes: buy a Mac. I have been using them for over 20 years and have yet to run into a virus problem.

Assange really does seem to be one of the signals of the upcoming uranus square pluto. The student protests in the U.K seem to be another. Especially the most recent one where Charles & Camilla's vintage rolls was attacked as they drove past.

Twilight said...

Kaleymorris ~~~ I guess I took the wrong road way back in 2001 with my first home computer. I was close to opting for a Mac then, but as I'd been using PCs at work for some years I decided to stay with what I knew (-ish!).

"Two roads diverged in a yellow wood...." and all that.
;-)

Twilight said...

Dan ~~ Hi there! Yes, things are just starting to "bubble up", aren't they? The UK protests along with those in France and Greece follow a pattern of sorts.
I'm not sure whether Assange belongs to the same pattern though.

Could be two, concurrent, patterns, one involving Neptune/Uranus semi-sextile and in mutual reception.
I get a strong Neptune "vibe" these days.

Gian Paul said...

It's the "Aquarian Age", finally. Dan is close to know it .

And it's time for other astrologers to WAKE UP TOO. And not unlike Robert/Phoenix's reaction - expecting more then "rabbits punches". If the planetary conjunctions/oppositions between Assange and Hillary are not enough, what else do you expect?

If one does not realize that Assange is a mere vector (and Hillary too) in a much broader game, what's the use to try to "learn on the ecliptic"? Or being involved in astrology in general?

PS. "Liberation" (a pretty leftish Daily in France) decided to act out on a "Wikileaks bis". Motive: Save "the liberty of expression". Depending on how they manage, I promised to myself that I will send them some support.

Twilight said...

Gian Paul ~~~ Are you chiding me?
;-)

I often wonder myself what is the use of learning on the ecliptic, and what I'm doing messing around on this blog.

I can only follow my inner compass, GP. If I don't see things as others do, that's my prerogative is it not?

I don't think that the Age of Aquarius has arrived yet - nor will it in my lifetime - nor the lifetimes of anyone on Earth at present. Astrologers differ on this - as in every other aspect of their "art".

Whether you are right about the link between Clinton and Assange will be seen in time. To be honest I'm not clear on what you think is the "broader game". Can you explain more? Are you hinting at New World Order and suchlike?

I'm not convinced that things go that deep. We'd be getting into paranoid David Icke country and I shy away from that, generally.

Gian Paul said...

Twilight, got you off the wrong foot, apparently: What I mean is that Assange and whoever else involved/concerned/upset etc. are just a vivid illustration of how "heavenly arrangements" work.

And not least the Vatican, getting hammered now for opposing Turkey entering the EU and being exposed for having resisted Irish investigations on pedophilia by some of their priests. This merits exposure in public and even if by a "non-angel" as Assange probably is.

Ultimately it does not matter if one is "purer as the other". What counts (for me at least) is to see that somewhere JUSTICE/TRUTH tends to prevail. No known dictator in this world (or fake politician for that matter) ever survived for very long, unless the fate of their country was calling for a "myth". Thinking of Mao, Fidel Castro, Franco in Spain.

Gian Paul said...

My previous comment did not show up, on my screen at least, before editing. One point I had forgotten: the link between Assange and Hillary "will not be proven in time": it's there and always was. Since the two were born. In my understanding of astrology at least.

Having doubts about my previous post having gone through, I repeat from memory what I have said: Apparently I got you off a wrong footing, T.

What I mean is that fortunately (my view of astrology, the world and its destiny) JUSTICE/TRUTH most of the time prevail:

Regardless of the vector, be it Assange or some corrupt politician, truth "wants out". Remember Watergate? And the various "Clinton affairs" etc?

Wikileaks and all those upset or not by it are part of that law. Look at the Vatican: upset that Wikileaks came out saying (what we all knew anyway) that they oppose Turkey's entry into the EU. Also that Rome tried to resist the Irish investigation into pedophilic behaviour by their priests, etc.

The Harvard Review of Dec 10, (to be seen still today on Bloomberg), carries an article praising Wkileaks, suggesting that if they were operating in the financial world all that corrupt business of insider trading etc. would be defused. They have a point and that's quite "aquarian age", in my understanding.

Twilight said...

Gian Paul ~~ We are, perhaps, talking/writing at cross purposes.

Re Clinton/Assange, I meant that a "physical" or "circumstantial" link as a result of their astrological link - might manifest in time. Did I read you wrongly?
were you simply stating that they are of similar natures?

***********************

Re the stuff coming to light from the cables released by Wikileaks - well, interesting but not unexpected.

I worry that the excess of media concentration on Assange and Wikileaks will distract from what else is going on, while doing little to further improvement in the lives or ordinary people.

I'm far more impressed by the 8+ hour speech of Senator Bernie Sanders on Friday - but I don't see nearly as much media coverage on that. There's some, in liberal blogs and websites, but not nearly enough.

And on Thursday 16th there'll be a demonstration in Washington by some leading left-wing journalists and others against the war/occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not much is being said in the media about that.....or the wars which go on and on and on.

Twilight said...

Gian Paul ~~~ As I said in the post, I've admired Assange's courage in the past. I just don't know why I can't get onto the current bandwagon of support for him. I find it strange in myself, that's why I'm making a note of it.
I feel the opposite of what I'd expect to be feeling.

Strange.

Time might tell the reason - or it might not. ;-)

Gian Paul said...

The "world" as probably it allways was but today it's becoming perceprible, functions on several "layers of reality". One, which we try to understand here, planetary, astrological, another political, everyday stuff.

If, following Plato's parable of the cavern, the "visible world", i.e. the one projected on the wall represents the "movings" by the Hillaries and Assanges and Popes and their priests etc. But we should not be surprised if one day, getting out of tha cave, we discover the truth.

PS. I recollect a version of Plato's parable where who managed to get out into daylight was so strongly hit by TRUTH that he/she preferred to go back and take up again his/her old place in the cavern. Have to whatch out, the real world not being an easy place!

Twilight said...

Gian Paul ~ Yes, the cave is a good analogy. We do have to be certain that when supposing we are getting out of a cave, we don't inadvertently enter another.
There could well be a maze of caves ahead, with all manner of shadows. Plato's cave was simple. In our 21st century the cave is complex, or so I suspect. ;-)

Dan said...

I think the 'cave' or chimera is actually the media.

240,000 secret cables released by wikileaks and only the most obvious, facile and gossipy focused on in US and UK media.

There's a reason why they want this man dead Twilight. Go on the guardian website wikileaks cables page to browse and do your own investigation into the REAL info released by wikileaks:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/interactive/2010/nov/28/us-embassy-cables-wikileaks

Twilight said...

Dan ~~ Thanks for the link. I'll investigate.

With so much attention on Assange at present it's unlikely he could be "got rid of" one way or another, even if the powers that be would like him gone. He's certainly a thorn in their side, and causing embarrassment all round, especially regarding foreign policy.

What he's also doing is taking the focus off more important stuff though. Distraction.

I waited to comment on this post, as most other commentators were focusing on the astrological aspect and my thoughts were - dare I say it? - of a more down-to-earth slant. Sorry! ;-)

Leaving aside the astrological aspect, on which I'm in no way qualified to comment, I believe one of the major mistakes made in the media generally has been to entwine Assange and the Wikileaks website to the extent that they're now seen as one and the same.

In fact, Assange and the happenings in his life, (while obviously closely related to Wikileaks), are an entirely different story from the whistle-blowing publication machine presently functioning on the internet.

I support Wikileaks totally. I've made no secret of that. I believe we, the public, have a right to know how those who act in our names, conduct themselves and how their actions are likely to effect our lives.

As for Assange himself, I have little opinion of the man. He remains something of an enigma, though he has been awarded the 2009 Amnesty International Media Award; the 2008 Economist Freedom of Expression Award, and the 2010 Sam Adams Award given by a group of retired CIA officers for 'Integrity in Intelligence'. I guess those organizations must consider him worthy of merit.

Concerning the allegations of sexual misconduct, there appears nothing in the public domain to substantiate any possible charges, which points to a desperate attempt by the USA to silence Assange. Of course, as of now that can never be more than speculation.

Whether it's a Neptunian fog that causes the air of rather dark mystery surrounding this guy, or merely the ceaseless media attention that never quite gets to grips with him, I would venture to suggest the product is far greater than the inventor. Whether Wikileaks survives or not, it is a concept that will never be completely suppressed. Already, other 'whistle-blower' sites are coming online and soon there'll be too many to suppress them all.

Who knows, longterm it could turn out to be the the best thing ever to happen to the human race. When politicians can no longer lie and get away with it, perhaps they'll give up lying altogether. Now, wouldn't that be something?
;-)

RJ Adams ~~ (I removed the duplicate (s) - sorry if you had trouble posting. I suspect Blogger comments hava a bug just now.)

I appreciate your point about Assange and Wikileaks being separate entities. And I agree that whistle-blowers in general are valuable and necessary.

I read yesterday that a set up called Openleaks is getting ready to launch, but it will be somehow different from Wikileaks.

As you say the media orgy about Assange could turn out to be "a good thing", even though it's pretty meaningless in the greater scheme of things as they stand today.

Releasing 250,000 cables doesn't seem to me to be an honest attempt to uncover illegality - and that's really what whistle-blowing ought to be....not wholesale issue of confidential documents which may or may not cause embarrassment- and almost certainly do not contain anything that could be construed as "illegal" as did the famous Pentagon Papers which Daniel Ellsberg uncovered years ago.

Whether Assange got a taste of fame and wanted more is one possibility; an underlying motive, or backer is another.
Whether his recent doings will cause the internet to be closely "policed" could be an unwanted outcome, though it's something which surely must have been foreseen by a clever guy like him.

Gian Paul said...

Fully concord with R.J. Adams views: it's excellent for so called "secrets" to come out into the open, the more the better. That way even "Sectretaries of States" and alike will learn to respect the thinking public. Not just to manipulate those who don't know (anyway) or keep those who wish to know in a state of ignorance. Those days should belong to the past - if not lets all go back to an Indian type of caste system of the old days.
