Islam's Nativity and/or Calendar

It's not easy to read political blogs these days without coming across mention of ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria), which led me to dig out a guest post from the 2010 archives. It was written by an old friend of this blog, Gian Paul, living in Brazil. I've extracted the paragraphs particularly related to astrology to copy today. They are in the coloured box, below. The full post is HERE.

I think we all know that conflicts between Christianity and Islam are not going to be resolved soon, or ever. Flare-ups involving old groupings (al-Quaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, Taliban, Shebab, Houthis, Boko Haram....etc), new groupings (e.g. ISIS), combinations of any or all of them, will continue for as long as we are now able to envisage.

What began as religious differences many centuries ago (some echo of which definitely remains), has morphed into a striving of the West to take total control of middle-eastern oil. When oil eventually runs out, or when the world becomes largely uninhabitable through climate change - whichever comes first - then a certain peace might descend upon this war-torn planet. What a sad reflection this has to be on our much lauded human, so-called, "intelligence".

As I once wrote in comments to Gian Paul: Islam is "a topic I haven't ever considered writing about myself, I always refuse to enter debates about the middle east, especially Israel/Palestine, as that usually proves to be "a hiding to nothing". The conflict has been going on for most of my lifetime and it'll not end anytime soon." I feel so sad and sorry for ordinary people in Iran and Iraq. Their nations' histories are so rich and, actually, the cradle of most civilisation. Their people began a quest for knowledge and art that is ongoing, still, in the West. People (especially in the USA) forget these things all too often.

So, for further consideration, a look at Gian Paul's notes on, and the chart he calculated for, one of the possible dates for the birth of Islam, which is also the date when the Islamic calendar begins.

The Arabs, mostly all Muslims, have a close connection with astrology. It's they who brought it back to the Christian world during the Middle Ages, when most of Spain was under their control and the Vatican had banned astrology from being permitted - except, it is reported, for the secret use of some of the Popes. (This, I guess, is one of the reasons the Vatican's Library is hermetically closed to outsiders).

Islam has a precise starting date: July 16, of the year 622. At Sundown (18 hours 44') at Medina. Mohammed had then had to flee from the violent opponents to his ideas in his home town of Mecca ("Prophet in his own land..."). At Medina where he had just arrived, on July 16, after a New Moon 3 days before had just passed, the Moon's crescent was becoming visible in the early night sky. And thus the crescent Moon turned out to be the symbol most Islamic nations carry in their national flags. This was the exact moment when Islam was "born". (Right = Flag of Turkey)

Permitted question: Here we have the first beginning of a major religion where the starting moment is precisely known; are we presented here with an astrological "gift"? (Rather then some obscure manipulation of dates as with the beginnings of Christianity).

An interpretation of Islam's horoscope is very revealing in terms of what this latest major world-religion represents. A stellium of 3 planets, Moon/Uranus/Neptune, opposed by Jupiter is the main "axis" of this map. Neptune and Uranus, in Virgo, opposite Jupiter in Pisces, the sign and main symbol of the Christian Era! Reinforced by the crescent Moon, a guarantee for a lot of "emotional spark" to develop between these two religions. An inconjunct aspect between Mars (in Virgo) and Pluto (in Aries) also indicates that if there will be conflict, it will be rather fierce (Mars) and fundamental (Pluto).

Since ever the two religions have been fighting either to conquer the other's lands, or to try to get them back (the Crusades, aiming at taking back Jerusalem and the Holy Lands). The Suez Canal, Oil, and of course, Israel...

Religion and Money. One or both will be what brings this planet and everything on it to its end.

I've stopped reading political posts as the comments are more than I can tolerate. TOO many blabbling the same phrase over and over- "Just Blow THEM off the planet" iraq, iran and all the eastern countries they mean.:-(
If that's the solution the majority believe will work, then we are all lost.
Most of the babbling above is done by right wing conservatives-- you know, the ones who deny women health care cause every life is soooooooooooooooooo
precious to them. Can they hear themselves? talk about 2 sides of a bad penny.
So now I'll say something ugly lol.
I think every man of any nationality who abuses women and children should be blown off the planet~!
that will be the time when War has any chance of ending.

It's unfortunate that our foreign policy -- both present and past, and promoted and supported by both major parties -- continually gets entangled within such a morass of differing cultural and religious values. It seems, as you alluded, that as long as our reliance on oil from this region continues, this dependency will only serve to fuel not only our unquenchable thirst for additional unsustainable sources of energy, but also to throw gasoline on an already blazing inferno of mistrust and increasing hate for not only the U.S., but also the west as a whole.

It can only move toward a "non-zero-sum game" of horrific proportions, which will ultimately prove disastrous for the whole planet.

I've maintained several times on another blog I frequent, that I wish Jefferson's and Madison's desire for the inclusion of "no standing armies" in the U.S. Constitution would have become reality. I can only believe that the U.S. policy of permanent war would then have at least been stalled, if not thwarted, and the probable outcomes denied.

Sonny ~ Thanks for your thoughts. Yes ugly comments can be found in just about any thread one reads these days - at political blogs and websites, anyway. The internet gives people false courage to air their darkest thoughts, and become way more dramatic and passionate than they'd be in real life, face to face. The net has benefits, many of 'em, but it has a dark side too.

Jefferson's Guardian ~ Couldn't agree more with every word!

It seems that a "hiding to nothing" is what we, the people of the West, are all on, whether we like it or not - and those of us with a smidgin of common sense don't like it one little bit.

mike ~ As pointed out, the text in the blue box was from a guest post by Gian Paul some years ago.

Yes, I see what you mean about Mars/Pluto - I think he must have meant to describe the aspect as inconjunct, because he mentions Mars and Pluto again rather than Mercury/Pluto....or....I don't really know what he meant, but I'll amend the "trine" to "inconjunct" in a mo, so as not to mess around with the text too much. Thanks.

I'll not argue about the date - I took Gian Paul's word for what he'd written. A quick search to find where he might have gathered the information threw up this, at

http://www.datesinhistory.com/jul16.php

July 16, 0622 "Mohammed (570-632) while meditating near Mecca in 610 AD, had visions from Allah to write the Koran. He escaped from his enemies in Mecca on July 16, 622 and went to Medina. Mohammed's journey (hejira) on this date would mark the birth of Islam. He raised an army while spreading his beliefs, and returned to conquer Mecca in 630 AD."

July 16, 0622 The beginning of the Islamic calendar.

The comments to skyscript's post result in the same conclusion, that there is no truely confirmed date.

mike ~ I know, but they do comment that 16 July 622 was the start of the Islamic calendar which must count for something astrologically, surely?

mike ~ I've adjusted my post title for a little more accuracy.

mike ~ Well then, lets just forget the whole thing about beginnings!
What our current problem is: there's no end in sight. That applies to all religions (when taken to extremes) - and no end to the wars that plague those areas and make the lives of ordinary people there a hell on earth.
