RESULT !!!

In soccer terms this is:

URANUS...1 SATURN....0

I'm so proud of America! On two fronts. They have overwhelmingly supported a black president, and, for me far more important - a left-wing president who will, in turn support ALL Americans, not just the chosen few.

NOW I can jump for joy and weep at the same time!

Twilight, Obama is not what he appears to be. A man from a differnt race with have followers who will follow him blindly. He will comand the greatest nation and he will bring them to their knees. Get ready for what is about to come.

Barack Obama is of THE HUMAN RACE, he is not different. If he brings this nation to its knees, then I believe it will be in prayers of thankfulness that the dark days of Bush's Republican rule have at last come to an end. I and millions like me are more than ready for what is to come!!

There's still a lot of darkness in this country, as exemplified by your first commentator. One wonders what fears their overwrought imaginations manage to dredge up. It was a good night both for America and the world. Not perfect - Inhofe got back in and Oklahoma stayed red - but good enough.
Now, if they'll just buy Obama a Popemobile.

Hello RJ! ~~
Yes, it's disappointing, that when McCain himself was so very gracious in defeat, and I believe he was sincere, his supporters remain bitter. Not only the commenter here, but on blogs and websites I respected during the primaries, but which seemed to turn Red (Republican not communist!) overnight after Hillary Clinton was defeated.

Oklahoma's result was a great disappointment too, especially that Inhofe was voted in again. Okies are decades behind some other parts of the USA, sweet and warm as they are, they need to catch up - and quickly! We have a Democratic Governor, and there are more Democrats registered in the state than Republicans according to a recent news article. I just don't understand it! I think it's misplaced loyalty to the oil industry which brough some wealth to a previously impoverished state, after the dust bowl era.

But let's celebrate the positive, at least for a day or two.
We swung to the left - YAY!!!!!

I must say I am shocked at California's vote on Prop 8 and it merited an almighty WTF? from me. One step forward and one step back.

As you would guess, I'm in the middle here. Like Blair, I think he has good intentions, and being 'nice', people will give him the benefit of the doubt, and he'll believe his own publicity and think he is right above all others ...
But I live in hope that this time it will be different. I really do.

WWW ~~~ The trolls keep it real I guess, stop me from getting too Pollyanna-ish!

Yes, Prop 8 (re same sex marriage being banned in California) struck a sour note amidst the jubilations.
Again, this keeps it real and reminds us that there's a long, long road winding ahead, before thia country finally reaches true 21st century status. :-)

AN ~~~ Hi!
I understand your doubts - after experiencing the Blair years. I see some similarity, but some differences too. Blair dragged his party to the right, Obama, once he gets his feet under the table will, I hope, drag his party to the left.....and many will throw up their hands --"shock horror - socialism!!" Then they'll see the bnenefits - eventually.

I think Obama is extremely level headed and a much stronger, cleverer character than Blair - but we shall see, and live in hope.
