Two to the Dozen!

Yesterday, 30 April, was the 12th anniversary of the day Anyjazz and I were wed. As is our habit we intend to celebrate with a wee trip. Date of departure has been changed more than once, due to adverse weather forecasts. Anyway - come what may, the blog will be on hold for a few days.

Another of husband's photographs, taken in a junk store recently, made it to Flickr's "Explore" section during the week:

Past Time

Caption: "Past Time - If I could keep time in a bucket"

Which prompts me to recall the Jim Croce song - and how appropriate for our wedding anniversary!

"Time In A Bottle"

If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day till eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you

If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure and then
Again, I would spend them with you..................

This song from the 1980s kept popping into my head the other day. It's by Labi Siffre, and was about Apartheid in South Africa (Wikipedia). The lyrics could also be seen as relevant to any struggle, and I hope Labi Siffre would not object to my seeing it as relevant to the campaign of Bernie Sanders, now reaching a high point of struggle against Sec. Clinton and the DNC in the primaries still to be held. There'll be one on Tuesday in Indiana.

GO BERNIE! The higher they build their barriers the stronger you'll become....

Happy Anniversary! Or, Joyeux Anniversaire, as they say over here. "Anniversaire" seems to cover everything, including birthdays (not sure about deaths!).

Love the picture. As I've commented before - he's a bugger with the Brownie.

Happy 12th! Silk, linen, pearls...try to find the time on your travel to indulge in silk chocolate pie, some John Lennon tunes, and pearls of wisdom.

"Important" events of 2004:
Facebook launched
Google Gmail started
The first transit of Venus since 1882 occurred

A first for me in 2004: Watching your union via webcam, co-workers huddled around because the notion of it seemed so new. I'm so glad that day happened.

RJ Adams ~ Ta very much! Anyjazz says ta too, but reckons that he's niftier with a Nikon. :-) The word brownie has me contemplating whether there might be available in some store, should we reach the Colorado state line, some of those "special ingredient" brownies. Hmmmm....I've always wanted to sample one of those.

mike ~ Many thanks! Good idea - I shall do so! We listened to a Beatles music album - symphonic style- on the road this morning. We're in Amarillo - it's VERY cold.

We have a transit of Mercury (across face of the Sun) this year don't we?

Kaleymorris ~ Thank you - we're so happy it happened too! We both had lots of firsts in 2004 - anyjazz manfully braving Yorkshire ways for a year, me braving Okie ways - he with more success than me - at least initially. ;-)

Transit of Mercury (eclipse) Sun is May 9th!

"Transits of Mercury can happen in May or November with May transits being about half as frequent as November transits. They currently occur within a few days either side of May 8 and November 10. The interval between one November transit and the next November transit may be 7, 13, or 33 years; the interval between one May transit and the next May transit may be 13 or 33 years. May transits are less frequent than November transits because during a May transit, Mercury is near aphelion whereas during a November transit, it is near perihelion. Perihelion transits occur more frequently due to two effects: firstly, Mercury moves faster in its orbit at perihelion and can reach the transit node more quickly, and secondly at perihelion Mercury is closer to the Sun and so has less parallax."

North Node of Mercury is 17* Taurus

Re - magic brownies...yes, do it, Twilight! Alice B Toklas would have wanted you to have one for your "trip".

Just read that Bernie is pushing the delegate count:

"'Let me be very clear. It is virtually impossible for Secretary Clinton to reach the majority of convention delegates by June 14 with pledged delegates alone. In other words, the convention will be a contested contest,' Sanders said at a press conference."

mike (again) ~ Interesting - thanks! LOL - yes I first realised that smoking is not essential for the magic effect, from a movie mentioning Alice B Toklas - and a party where big piles of the delicacies were available. :-)

Good for Bernie - I shall make sure to follow primary results tomorrow evening.
Bernie Bernie Bernie !!! (She chants and scares the people in the next hotel room)
