"Nothing But A Chromosome"

In an article, here, this week Gloria Steinem wrote:
"Palin shares nothing but a chromosome with Clinton" (Hillary Clinton, I hasten to add!)

That's a fair remark, given what I know of them both. Let's see whether, apart from that chromosome, the two ladies share anything astrological. Without even looking at their charts, I'd be surprised if they did. There is one basic similarity though, both have a cluster of planets in a Fixed sign, Scorpio in Clinton's case, Aquarius for Palin. Both are stubborn and determined, loyal to the causes they personally see as being just.

Here's a dual chart with Clinton at center and Palin in the outer ring. Moon position and ascendant should be disregarded because there's no settled birth time for either lady, so the positions shown here are not accurate. Click on chart for a clearer view.

There's no shared personal planet position. Clinton's Venus at 16 Scorpio and Palin's Neptune at 17 Scorpio come nearest, but thats a personal planet and an outer planet, so not really too significant.

The most significant thing I see here is the opposition between Aquarius and Leo planets. Palin's Sun/Mars/Saturn trio closely oppose Clinton's Saturn in Leo, and more widely her Pluto and Mars. Fur and feathers may fly if ever these two finish up on a platform, opposing each other. Think 2012!

It is a powerful essay by a woman who has always been my hero (my daughters were read MS magazine whilst toddlers when GS was the editor of same!).

But I then read one of the responses and think, this is sooooo representative of the general knuckle dragging populace out there:

"Gloria has always represented the hard core real feminist woman, the feminist that looks upon pro choice as a feminist right to murder millions of innocent unborn babies. The fact that pro choice supports murder is of no consequence to Gloria and her followers. Gloria has always supported freedom for same sex marriage for gays. Gloria will support anything that offends the conscience of any person that has an ounce of morality within their character. That is why it is easy for Gloria to ridicule Sarah Palin and support a candidate that is a racist against the white Americans while he is in church on Sunday listening to his misguided pastor, Reverend Wright deliver his message of hate against the very people that built this mighty nation. The very nation that provided opportunity and freedom for him and Obama, the nation that every black African has always desired to flee to from their criminal warlords that terrorize virtually every African country.".

My particular favourite being "the black Africans fleeing".

Chaining themselves in the galley ships, no doubt, and arranging the slave auctions at the other side of the ocean. Oh, those kidders!

I didn't read the comments, WWW - in deference to my blood pressure - but I've just had a peek, and you are right.

I think this old planet Earth has been morphing gradually into Bizarro World - the morphing is almost complete!

In the Bizarro world of "Htrae" ("Earth" spelled backwards), society is ruled by the Bizarro Code which states "Us do opposite of all Earthly things! Us hate beauty! Us love ugliness! Is big crime to make anything perfect on Bizarro World!".

I wish I could do meditation - I'd love to esacape into an OM...OM...thingie.

Re Rev Wright - I was as critical as the next person about him, still am. To his credit, Obama did distance himself, though it ought to have been done much earlier. I'm very slowly coming to appreciate Obama. He himself has morphed into a far more down to earth candidate than he was in early primary days.

For me, the appointment of Biden, and now the emergence of Ms Palin on the other side, have catapulted me right into Obama's camp (though I'll never be a proper Obamabot - I hope!) It's an ill wind that blows nobody any good!

Hmm - I'll have to amend the spelling of Ms Steinem's name....

There are comments over here that Palin is a young Thatcher. It will be interesting to see if there's any truth in this.

Yes, AN, I've said the same thing about her. Thatcher, my worst nightmare, had a lot more political background and experience than Palin though.
The similarity is in their style and personality traits, and of course their political outlook.
