Exits left....

Last post for a few days. It'll be the birthday of anyjazz on 22nd, in celebration of that we'll be heading out tomorrow morning in a westerly, Route 66-ish direction. We're not certain for how long, maybe just a couple of days, or maybe a week, depending on how enthusiastic we feel once "on the road again".
If you ever plan to motor west, Travel my way, take the highway that is best.
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six............
You see Amarillo, Gallup, New Mexico, Flagstaff, Arizona....
Enthusiasm might even last until that latter point, from which a couple of side trips would be a possibility, north to Grand Canyon, South to Sedona with its great scenery, New Agey touristy attractions, and its four alleged vortices which, in Sedona I think are called vortexes. But I shall not be at all surprised to find that we end up somewhere quite different, in a place we've never heard of, let alone thought of visiting.

Anyway, in other words there'll be a bloggy eclipse here, as well as the solar eclipse, tomorrow.

On the topic of travel, yesterday I found this lovely set of great photographs and comment - well worth a look: 50 Reasons to #Love the World

Also - one of my American heroes, Dr Cornel West appeared on Letterman's Late Show the other night - Dr West is always, always worth hearing:

Bon voyage! I'll trust that you make it past the Oklahoma border and destinations west, into the next time zone. There is definitely something special about the Sedona area, whatever the reason, and it's downright beautiful-mesmerizing. There has been ample snow-rain in that part for spectacular spring flowers, so I hope your travel coincides.

Maybe you departed today and all will be fine, but for the astrologically minded wanderer, after tomorrow morning...4:45 AM...the new Moon, solar eclipse, is ideal. An interesting new Moon at 30* Pisces, minutes from the Aries-point, world axis, followed a couple of hours later with the equinox.

I'll be an optimist and believe the world you left will have semblance to the one you find on the return. I'll look forward to the details and pics.

mike ~ Not gone yet...not even packed a bag - will get to that shortly, after checking weather forecasts (yet again!)

We'll make it to Amarillo tomorrow for sure, and will NOT be setting off before 4.45 AM. I hope we'll not be caught in any untoward eclipticness or equi-knocking!

I remember years ago someone recommended a visit to Sedona, but we've never yet travelled that far into Arizona. Weather has mostly been too darned hot for me whenever we were within range of it. This time, if we get that far, heat at least won't be a problem.

If there's anything of interest to report while absent I shall get me to the lap-top.

Later....
:-)

Anon/kidd ~ Thanks - nice graphics in the video (good music too!)

I-40 proves far less romantic and picturesque, but parts of original Route 66 can still be accessed - if I recall correctly. :-)

Sedona is worth the visit, but if other ports beckon, it'll still be there for the next time. The scenery on Hwy 40 around Flagstaff is amazing...Hwy 17 from Flagstaff to Sedona is spectacular, only to be outdone by the greater Sedona offerings. Of course, Hwy 89 going north from Flagstaff leads to the one-and-only Grand Canyon. You'll have too many colorful choices for a change, once past the Oklahoma sensibility. Lest I forget, a Happy Birthday greeting to your travel mate!

mike (again) - Anyjazz says thank you kindly, mike! He's looking forward to having something decent to shoot (photo-wise, of course!)

You are making us more keen than ever to see those sights. :-) West has always been my favourite way to go. This time, with a bit of luck and enthusiasm we'll beat our previous farthest W. point, somewhere around the Petrified Forest.
