Anti-everything?

The silly season has been upon us for quite sometime already this year, and is set to continue.

Example: from a local newspaper in the UK:
Town Prophet Fears Trump is the Antichrist

Ah yes - that old antichrist meme. Been there, I ventured down that rabbit-hole some 5 years ago, I recall:
Will the Real Antichrist Please Stand Up ? Donald Trump wasn't a blot on the presidential campaign season back then though.

A trio of other ideas on this topic :
Our blight is ideologies — they are the long-expected Antichrist!
Carl Jung
Television is the Antichrist, and I can assure you after only three or four generations, people will no longer even know how to fart on their own and humans will return to medieval savagery and to the general state of imbecility that slugs overcame back in the Pleistocene era. Our world will not die as a result of the bomb...it will die of laughter, of banality, of making a joke of everything and a lousy joke at that.
Carlos Ruiz Zafon

Anti-anti:

Anti, anti, anti...anty, antish...

The Ant by Ogden Nash

The ant has made himself illustrious
Through constant industry industrious.
So what?
Would you be calm and placid,
If you were full of formic acid?

From our floral friends: the Antirinum, aka Antirrhinum or Snapdragon

And this cannot be forgotten:

antidisestablishmentarianism (here).

Now, come on, Twilight....what do you expect from Sevenoaks? To quote the late, great, John Denver...."They roll up the sidewalks precisely at ten, and people who live there are not seen again..." (He was referring to Toledo, Ohio, but it's good for Sevenoaks, too).

Alan Peters of Sevenoaks has found gold authoring multiple books pandering to the antichrist and end-times conspiracy crowd. Capitalizing via fear mongering is one way to make a living.

I've long suspected that religion itself is the antichrist...the reflection in the mirror that is so frightening. The what-would-Jesus-do slogan that is contemplated in deep prayer, then acted upon through deception, corruption, denigration, and-or violence, allowing a glimmer into the warped minds of the faithful, deceived by their own messages from gawdville.

“The Church of Rome ... has become the most lawless den of thieves, the most shameless of all brothels, the very kingdom of sin, death and hell, so that not even antichrist, if he were to come, could devise any addition to its wickedness.” Martin Luther

You omitted Auntie Em and Auntie Mame.

Off - Did you see that Bernie met with the Pope? The Bern was sorta chastised by the media for inviting himself, but then it was updated to an actual Vatican invitation. The media downplayed his visit, because he was only giving a presentation while the Pope was outta town. Now it comes out that the two actually met. Hillary will be holding her bible a little higher in church tomorrow in defiance.

Also, I see in the news today that Bernie is receiving kudos for addressing and supporting the plight of the Palestinians, something no other candidate has dared.

RJ Adams ~ Yeah, well it's south of Birmingham - true enough - what'd I expect!? ;-)

mike ~ Anti-christ meanderings must have made quite a few people rich, over the years.

Oh yes, and Auntie Beeb (the BBC) :-)

I read this morning about Bernie's brief tête-à-tête with the Pope, yes, saw it on BBC news website. There's been little about the Vatican trip around the net in general - NY primary and Trump taking up all the space.

Yes, I was pleased to hear him speak out so clearly as he did on Thursday evening on the Palestinian issue. The audience showed great appreciation for his comments.
I also read this morning that CNN cut out the standing ovation he received. I couldn't bear to listen to the CNN lot being covertly snarky about him after the debate - switched to ROKU after a few minutes.

George Clooney wins the dichotomy quote of the day. Clooney co-hosted a Saturday night Clinton fund raiser and is hosting another tonight. The price to attend either is astronomical and is expected to raise $15 million for Hillary and the DNC (aka Hillary). After being called-out, his response:

"Speaking to NBC’s Meet the Press, the actor was asked by host Chuck Todd whether the sums involved in his events, such as $353,400 a couple to be a 'co-chair', were, as critics and protesters have said, obscene.

'Yes,' he said. 'I think it’s an obscene amount of money. I think – you know that we had some protesters last night when we pulled up in San Francisco and they’re right to protest, they’re absolutely right, it is an obscene amount of money.

'We need to take the Senate back because we need to confirm a supreme court justice, because that fifth vote on the supreme court can overturn Citizens United and get this obscene, ridiculous amount of money out so I never have to do a fundraiser again.'”

One would think that he'd be putting his efforts fully on Bernie, if Clooney truly believed what he stated.

mike (again) ~ Hadn't seen that, but had mentally written Clooney off as just another limousine liberal. In a sane world, from what we know of his humanitarian efforts, he'd have been one of Bernie's biggest supporters. Who knows how the minds of such people work? They live in a bubble - even though they travel and see horrendous poverty and suffering, once back within their own surroundings they seem to forget - or don't put 2 and 2 together - or something!

I suppose Clooney's remarks really leap-frogged the Hillary-Bernie race and went directly to the Dem-Repub race to come - a way of him to fudge the issue.

It's nice to see, at Counterpunch today, a more friendly atmosphere to Bernie in some articles. I especially enjoyed one by Andrew Levine - who has mostly stayed reasonably positive on the Bernie front. This is the piece:
