Music Monday ~ First Decan Aries ~ The Divas?

First decan Aries Sun people (born during the first ten days of the sign, roughly those born in March) unless weakened by a strong conflicting Moon or cluster of planets elewhere, are likely to display the most Aries attributes of the sign. This effect can be seen in a group of music stars whose birthdays fall around now.

In no particular order:

Lady Gaga 28 March

Aretha Franklin 25 March

Mariah Carey 27 March

Reba McEntire 28 March

Diana Ross 26 March ~ Happy birthday to her!

Elton John 25 March

Celine Dion 30 March

Eric Clapton 30 March

Steven Tyler 26 March ~ Happy birthday to him!

Sarah "Sassy" Vaughn 27 March

How many of those have been labelled "diva" because of their rather demanding natures, their drive and ambition? Quite a few - and it seems to manifest most noticeably in the females, probably because females in general, accurate or not, are considered to be less "pushy", so we notice when they display this tendency.

Because it's their birthday today, one performance by Ms Ross and one by Mr. Tyler:

  1. Ha! I saw in a newspaper that it was Steven Tyler's birthday and thought you might mention him! I expect he is celebrating with a nice afternoon tea party with his daughter Liv and grandchild.

  3. Interesting how assertiveness is seen as a negative in females.
But an extraordinary bunch of Arians here.
Sarah Vaughan, wow, I just loved her.

  4. Vanilla Rose ~~ Possibly so !
according to his Tweets he'll be gearing up to tour with Aerosmith once American Idol finishes its current run. He's sticking it well, better than some others. :-)

  5. Kaleymorris ~~ Yes - or at least get it done professionally with some variation in shade - it's too flat at present and much too dark for his faded skin colour.

  6. Wisewebwoman ~~ Some people see it as negative, yes. Some people also see assertiveness as negative in anyone, of either gender. :-)

I'm, not sure the word diva is always negative though, WWWW. To me it indicates a woman of a certain style. However, some of the "celebs" who are described as divas, if reports are to be believed, do act like spoiled brats.....which is different from being simply assertive.

  7. Interesting to see Aretha and Mariah in that list as it reminded me of a Diva concert in New York several years ago. All the 'modern' Divas were present including Mariah all trying to outdo each other on stage. Then on came Aretha and blew them all away.

My uncle was a sound engineer in the US for a time working for Electrosound in LA. He said working with Aretha was incredible because she was pitch perfect and he didn't have to work too hard to cover up any glitches in her performance.

A true Diva in the nicest sense of the word.

Re Aretha- I can imagine that too! She was certainly one of the "good divas". :-)

As the word diva(f.)/divo (m.) translates as "divine", it's sad that when attached to an artist, along the way it has gathered moss and now has some negativity atttached.
