At the time of typing Oklahoma has 565 positive cases of COVID-19, and 23 deaths recorded. (24 hours later numbers are 719 and 30 deaths) On Saturday 4 April: 1,159 confirmed positive; 42 deaths. Little testing has been done in the region and one expert has estimated that 500+ is realistically 5,000+. Oklahoma Governor has ordered the over 65s, and others vulnerable due to health-related issues, to stay at home until 30 April, going out for truly essential reasons only. So far there is no state-wide "lock-down".
I chose to cancel the PET scan I had listed for today (31 March). I felt, after much consideration and for a few reasons, that it was the safest and best thing to do. I shall keep my appointment at the Cancer Center on Friday for a blood test to check blood count has not dipped too low for me to carry on taking the necessary meds. I shall see the oncologist then, if he's available - nothing is certain now that the virus high-tide is approaching us.
In other news: our little Redbud trees are blooming, helping to cheer us - I remember, last spring, wondering whether I would be around to see them bloom again - and I am! Glory be!

Love the redbuds and wise decision on your screening. We are high risk.I can't get blood work either but am keeping busy with the Covid Site and also expanding on a blog post true story I wrote many years ago in 6 parts as there was more to it and now, I believe, all parties are deceased. So keeping my brain occupied.
ReplyDeleteDon't know when this will pass. Our provincial numbers dropped today and Quebec is devastated (March break contact tracing to France and Florida).
But who knows?
Hang in there you and Himself!

Wisewebwoman ~ Keeping interested and occupied is the trick, isn't it WWW? I am going to get my knitting needles out again.
ReplyDeleteI've just had a call from the Cancer Center asking if I'd prefer not to go for a blood test on Friday and, instead wait until mid-May, when I shall be due to attend a bigger hospital in a neighbouring city for a follow-up (re my Ibrance annual check - I think - something connected with billing). I chose to do that, but if I feel the need for a blood test at any time before that, I can always call the local Center and set up an appointment with the nurses there.
Things virus-wise are ramping up here now, today's number of positive cases in Oklahoma = 719 with 30 deaths; peak is expected in around 2 weeks.
I shall look forward to reading your story. :)
Hugs, love and hopes that we, and ours, can stay safe through this quite unexpected and unwished for extra adventure during our "golden" years.
And I trust you will be around to see the redbuds bloom again next year, and more years after that! I now see US medical experts are saying that if America gets away with only 240,000 deaths from this thing, they'll have done well. I dread to think of the consequences if they DON'T do well. And with the Trumps running things - god help us all!
ReplyDeleteKeep knitting, and keep smiling. Best wishes to Anyjazz, if he can drag himself away from his photographs ;-)
PS I'm blogging in earnest again. Don't know how long it'll last.
ReplyDeleteNot to worry
Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.
RJ Adams ~ Thank you for the good wishes. :) Yes, the ongoing pandemic is a scary prospect, with the worst still to come. What could possibly be worse than having Donald Trump at the helm? I cannot think of anyone worse! He tries to wriggle out of any responsibility for anything, but expects adulation and praise all the time, like a spoilt child....TSK!.
ReplyDeleteI've just finished trying to follow the many and varied incompetences of the Brexit debacle in the UK, then straight into the even worse incompetences (in the USA) of handling COVID-19. Where are the real leaders? I keep thinking of that quote: "Cometh the hour, cometh the man" and asking the universe...."well, where the heck is he this time around, 'cos the hour is definitely here and he isn't?"
Anyjazz sends his best to you. I shall wander into you blog again in a mo.

ReplyDeleteLoud the wind howls
Loud the waves roar
Thunderclaps rend the air
Baffled our foes
Stand by the shore
Follow they will not dare...
Speed bonny boat...
It was the best of times
ReplyDeleteIt was the worst of times
It was the age of wisdom
It was the age of foolishness
It was the epoch of belief
It was the epoch of incredulity
It was the season of light
It was the season of darkness
It was the spring of hope
It was the winter of despair

He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword:

ReplyDeleteAnd it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle

ReplyDeleteFrom a distance the world looks blue and green
And the snow capped mountains white
From a distance the ocean meets the stream
And the eagle takes to flight
From a distance there is harmony
And it echoes through the land
It's the voice of hope
It's the voice of peace
It's the voice of every man
Now if you listen closely
ReplyDeleteI’ll tell you what I know
Storm clouds are gathering
The wind is gonna blow
The race of man is suffering
And I can hear the moan,
‘Cause nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.
I remember the days, between the past and the pain.
ReplyDeleteWe were never afraid of places unknown.
There was nothing to fear, there was faith in the air.
We will never be scared of letting go.
What happened to the world I used to know?
What happened to the world I used to know?
We were living in the shadows everyday.
Are we ever gonna learn from our mistakes?
What happened to the world I used to know?
I was sitting in the bathtub counting my toes,
ReplyDeletewhen the radiator broke, water all froze.
I got stuck in the ice without my clothes,
naked as the eyes of a clown.
I was crying ice cubes hoping I'd croak,
when the sun come through the window, the ice all broke.
I stood up and laughed thought it was a joke
That's the way that the world goes 'round.
:-D - First laugh of the day, Anonymous! Ta!
ReplyDeletePack up your troubles in an old plastic bag
And smile, smile, smile.
As long as there’s somebody to make me smile,
Smile folks, that's the style
What's the use of worrying
It never was worth while
So, pack up your troubles in an old plastic bag,
And smile, smile, smile.
Time is
ReplyDeleteToo Slow for those who Wait,
Too Swift for those who Fear,
Too Long for those who Grieve,
Too Short for those who Rejoice;
But for those who Love,
Time is not.
ReplyDelete....And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be
Let it be, let it be. Yeah
There will be an answer, let it be.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
ReplyDeleteSomewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference

ReplyDeleteIn the darkness with a great bundle of grief
the people march.
In the night, and overhead a shovel of stars for
keeps, the people march:
“Where to? what next?”
