I seldom, these days, find political articles I can read all the way through without heaving a big sigh, or grumbling under my breath " Wha-aa--aat - you must be kidding!" Caitlin Johnstone's writings are the exception. She always, for me, exactly hits the spot. Here's a link to her latest piece, from yesterday:
Modern “Liberals” Are 1950s Authoritarians
Modern “Liberals” Are 1950s Authoritarians
Her piece exemplifies exactly what she's chastising. The Daily Banter describes her as alt-left (6-11-17). Another view from the clear sky mountain top of critical observations.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous ~ If Ms Johnstone is "alt-left" then I guess that has to be my label too. People love to attach labels and put everyone into neat little boxes! I do believe there's a thick mist on yon mountain top these days!
ReplyDeleteOh the labels. She says a lot of good stuff. And I've been saying the same thing for a long time now. Look at the causes of 100 years of endless war. Who's profiting, what's the agenda and be aware of the Newspeak. Meanwhile 45 is the source of endless jokes and satire and it's getting loads of attention while the Backroom Boyz increase their personal wealth.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile health care for millions of poor Americans is stripped and the Dreamers (another label) are shipped off to countries where they can't speak the language.
Real issues of the day are never focussed on. It is disheartening and dangerous.

Wisewebwoman ~ Thanks - yes, what's going on in the Backroom is sliding right under the radar ! It is disheartening, worrying too, but it seems as though the game pattern is set, until the next upset, anyway.
ReplyDeleteI am so sick of hearing of 'Republicans', 'Dems', 'alt-rights', 'alt-lefts', and a plethora of other pigeon-holes, with new ones being invented every day it seems. When are we going to stop this nonsense and remember we are all just 'people'?
ReplyDeleteRJ Adams ~ When indeed? The internet is a mixed blessing, it has so many advantages, but it's also an outlet for such irritants (among others) as this labelling lark. :(
