Music Monday
Back in a few! We're hoping to find some slightly less sizzling heat for a day or two, in order to enjoy a little of this summer in the open air - higher ground!
Hhmmmm...escape the heat...open air, higher ground...you two must be off to destinations west. Sounds exciting...I'll live vicariously through your travelogue details upon your return. Don't forget the Toklas brownies, should you venture into Colorado. Ciao...
mike ~ Yes westward ho! Though not quite as far as Colorado. I looked for the nearest least-touristy place with at least 10 to 15 or more degrees less temperature than here, and altitude just under 7,000ft. I shall report back on return as to whether this turned out to be a good plan. ;-)
Altitude just under 7,000 ft! I hope you are packing an oxygen tank, too. Wiki states, "...acute altitude sickness can begin to appear at around 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) above sea level." I lived in Boulder, CO, elevation 5,430 ft, for a number of years and it wasn't uncommon for newbies to experience their first days there with altitude flu. Your home turf is about 1,300 ft elevation in OK, so maybe you'll fare better than someone like me at sea level. Have an extra Scotch for me...here's mud in your eye!

ReplyDeleteHasta luego!
This is an impromptu (and better) version of Harrison's song - just ignore whoever that is interviewing him :)

ReplyDeleteHope you find the cool, shady, places. It's 65 degrees, wet and misty, tonight in northern France.

mike (again) ~ We did okay at almost 7,000, and can go a tad higher if just for an hour or so. Once at 9 or 10 thousand or higher things do get woozy!
ReplyDeleteGot back Sunday before temps hit triple figures (again). Will see if I can cobble together a post for the morrow. ;-)
JD ~ Thank you for that- that was after he'd lived a little more (and, sadly, had not much further to go.) :-(
ReplyDeleteRJ Adams ~ Thank you kindly - wet, cool and misty sounds good to me at the moment!
ReplyDeleteWe found a couple of days of "just right" - very enjoyable. :-)
Sabina ~ Awwww - that's a lovely video - thank you for the link! Nice to be a dog in the dog days!
