  1. KN@PPSTER's current post is about abortion clinics not having to meet excessive surgical standards, with the recent SCOTUS decision to return these clinics to their previous status. He claims the powerful pro-abortion lobby induced this change...REALLY??? Try powerful pro-lifers. Get real, dude! The abortion procedure has a very low rate of complications, which is why this reversal was allowed. I guess KN@PPSTER believes it's better to return to the old days of coat hanger meets dark back alley.

I was tired of Hillary's emailgate many months ago, as the outcome was assured to be what it was with the FBI's and Lynch's very recent announcements. Now comes the outcries of equally, if not much more, corrupt politicians declaring the audacity of our rigged system. Good thing it's rigged equally for those crying foul.

Tom Clark's photos of the Iraq injustice and Chilcot only deepen my angst with the Bush administration and that Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld should be convicted of war crimes...OK, at least taken to tribunal THEN convicted. We often forget that there are TWO wars ongoing, plus the war on terrorism...the longest duration wars in American history...caused by testosterone and stupidity, a very dangerous mix.

Stan Carey's post reminded me of several articles I read over the July 4th holiday about a punctuation period not in the constitution, but added later. The period is not in copies of the constitution that we replicated at the time of the original.
'"The logic of the sentence moves from the value of individual rights to the importance of government as a tool for protecting those rights,' Ms. Allen said. 'You lose that connection when the period gets added.'"

Darkblack is one of so many sites offering pictorial commentary of The Donald. Trump lends himself well to any number of denigrating forms, whether comedic, satiric, or simply disgusting.

  2. mike ~ The last sentence of your comment on Kn@appster's abortion clinic post is a tad unfair to him. As I read it, he would require the same medical standards for abortion clinics as for clinics doing other procedures. What could be wrong with that? He says he's generally in favour of abortion being legal, so your comment about coat hangers is hardly appropriate.

You and I are on opposite sides of the E-mailgate issue - enough said.

Interesting piece about the questionable period in in the Constitution. It'd be easier to prove one way or t'other if, in those days, they hadn't peppered capital letters around so liberally.

  3. Requiring abortion clinics to upgrade their facilities equivalent to surgical centers is EXACTLY what shut-down our Texas abortion clinics! The upgraded facilities have a high cost to construct and to maintain. Monthly maintenance for the upgrade is $40,000 for the one mentioned in this article:

“'Abortion is a procedure. It’s not really a surgery. There’s not any incisions, there’s not any stitches. The procedure itself takes maybe five or 10 minutes. So it’s not like an operation that has multiple physicians where the patients knee is open or her belly is open for a sort of more invasive that this sort of ambulatory surgical center was really devised for,' Miller said."

We've had several cases in the news of females performing their own abortions here in my city-county with very deleterious results: DEATH!
"Texas Women Are Inducing Their Own Abortions"
    http://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2015/11/texas-self-abort/416229/

"The study estimated that between 100,000 and 240,000 women aged 18 to 49 in Texas have tried to self-induce abortion since the law went into effect, using such methods as herbs, teas and medications obtained in Mexico without prescription."

  4. mike ~ You are better informed than I am on this. I don't see why abortion procedures cannot be carried out at clinics already set up, and to the required standard, for other procedures - or indeed at all hospitals.
    This is a crazy country!
