CUI BONO ?

So Black Lives Matter (or some people hiding beneath their mantle) disrupted another Bernie Sanders rally yesterday, this time in Seattle. These people, if they are not being paid by someone, or some body, to attempt to kill the Sanders campaign, have to wake up and appreciate how misguided are these actions. Not only are they shooting themselves in the foot by disrespecting a political ally of theirs, they are losing support of many ordinary people who would otherwise be on their side, myself included.

I ask myself "cui bono?" (who benefits?) Who would wish to wreck the campaign of the only candidate who is not in thrall to the oligarchy, who will at least try to right the many wrongs and injustices now present in the USA? I'll leave it to passing readers to work out the answer.

  1. I saw that on the news and was amazed that Bernie as well as all of his staff , didn't just idly stand by but actually moved away from the podium to let those hecklers have the entire show..

sorry, but if he is going to start showing leadership , even of a minor degree it surely needs to start with his own platform.. how, how, how could they let those folks take over the stage.. its mind boggling to me.

I went back and watched it three more times to make sure what I thought I saw was exactly what I saw- and it was...

He better step up and show some gumption of many of his now faithful followers and going to start 2nd guessing his ability to take command.. This was a minor situation- whats gonna happen when its a major one?
any competent staff stands between a candidate and the crowd. Where on earth was Bernie's? sheesh

  3. A look at the chart of the event might prove instructive. The rally began at 1:00 pm, I understand. If, in mundane astrology, the leader is the Sun, you will find it is quincunx Pluto, which is still within square Uranus. The Moon, the people, is in the 8th house in Gemini, and so on. Some astrologers would progress the most recent solar ingress to the event, and/or do the same with the latest eclipse. I haven't the software nor the expertise to do so.

In political and social matters, it is most illuminating to spend some time wading through the comments at various media sites; the pulse of the people is often quite at odds with its portrayal by mainstream pundits.

  4. Sonny ~ I think Bernie gave them the platform rather than allowing the incident to escalate into an unseemly verbal brawl. I believe he did the right thing in those circumstances. I agree that he needs to arrange for better security arrangements in future though.

  5. Sabina ~ Thank you for the astrological pointers. My software, since moving to Windows 7, is too basic to sort it out too.

I read through most of a comment thread on this at Huffington Post today. Most - in fact 99% - of commenters were angry about BLM's actions, not much support there for BLM's intervention. Any publicity BLM is getting from these adventures is not doing them any good at all, far as I can see.

  6. Well, Bernie can't catch a break on this one! Sonny, Bernie got into a match with the BLM club mid-July:
"His [Sanders] comments came after Sanders shouted down 'Black Lives Matter' protesters who disrupted his remarks at the Netroots Nation gathering in Phoenix. Sanders said he doesn't disagree with their message, but was irritated with being interrupted."

Sonny, he did exactly what you said he should have done this time. He took some heat for the BLM disruption in mid-July, so I'm sure he decided to disengage from the BLMers this incident.

If I had to pick an astrological aspect in Bernie's natal chart to explain this, I'd say it was his natal Saturn at 28*22' Taurus opposed by transiting Saturn at 28*20' Scorpio (2:15 PM, Aug 9th position). Exacerbated by transiting Jupiter and Venus in the late degrees of Leo, forming a T-square.

  7. I knew a couple months back this election would be a struggle for me and that issue becomes clearer by the day..

I think I'll go back to the old days of voting for me and just click on the person I prefer when that moment arrives:)

  8. mike ~ Bernie's earlier problem with BLM, a post on that is : http://twilightstarsong.blogspot.com/2015/07/bernie-sanders-and-blm.html
was smoothed over fairly quickly by a further speech he made next day.

He has appointed an African-American press secretary to his campaign (completed before yesterday's BLM intervention).

Let's hope this will see the end of BLM's shenanigans, at least as far as the Sanders campaign is concerned. Let 'em go give somebody else some grief - somebody who really deserves it! There were 17 of those types flapping their lips on Thursday evening, for instance. Go menace The Donald folks!

  9. mike ~ LOL! My own natal Mars at 28 Scorpio is conjoined with trans. Saturn at present!

  10. I think the main problem for a lot of us watching, was that we saw and felt the aggression and anger of the two activists but not their love or compassion. I'm not saying it wasn't there -or that they're not deserving of our compassion and understanding- only that we didn't feel welcomed in and included by it:

    http://www.cpt.org/files/PW%20-%20Principles%20-%20King.pdf

Rather than acting & speaking the truth respectfully and non-violently, which could've potentially drawn more supporters in, the behavior we witnessed *seemed* intentionally (or at least unconsciously) dehumanizing. Many of us related more to Bernie and his staff, which was probably not the goal.

Instead, we felt threatened, bullied, shouted down, shoved and shut out by the misguided behavior of the two protestors, which is ironic. I understand how tempting it is to believe we can fight injustice with more injustice; I used to be a shouter myself, so in a lot of ways, I related to the two women and their sense of frustration. I just know it's a dead end that *always* alienates people and inevitably leads back to self.

"He who fights monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."
    — Friedrich Nietzsche, Beyond Good and Evil

I feel much the same way when I read some of the dehumanizing comments left on progressive websites by those who claim to support various social and environmental justice issues. Like I say, I get it.

IMO, this was a missed opportunity for everyone, which is sad. Sad for all the victims of injustice.

And I'm not even a supporter of Bernie's.

  11. LB ~ Agreed! A missed opportunity - and relates back, in a way, to our discussion about the poem "Missing Dates" in previous posting.

  12. Twilight ~ It does relate back to the poem, doesn't it?
