Martin O"Malley, former Governor of Maryland (2007-2015); Mayor of Baltimore 1999-2007, joins Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders in the race for Democratic nomination; Jim Webb (featured in this post) still hasn't formally declared his intention to run.
Martin O'Malley was born in Washington DC on 18 January 1963. No time of birth is known. Below is his natal chart set for noon. Moon position will not be exact; ascending sign and degree remain unknown.
Transiting Saturn will conjoin his natal Venus late this year/early 2016. Transiting Mars will be conjunct his natal Sun during the first week of November 2016 (time of the presidential election). I'm not sure what significance there is there, but it'll be something to keep in mind as stories unfold.
Mr O'Malley's "credentials" aren't nearly as well-known as those of Ms Clinton and Senator Sanders. There's a 7-paragraph run-down HERE. Headings of the 7 paragraphs are:
#3 might be reflected in his Moon - likely in Scorpio with creative Neptune and in harmonious trine to Jupiter in Pisces (Neptune's rulership).
#4 reflects the Aquarius in him - especially Saturn in Aquarius!
I'll wait until the debates begin to form a proper opinion, but Martin O'Malley, to prejudiced me, already seems a less-presidential character, by far, than Bernie Sanders, whose voice has long been raised on issues important to We The People.

5. O'Malley's mom works for Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md

ReplyDeleteI'll be interested to hear what he has to say and go back and see what info I can get on him .. so the dems have 3 and the repubs have 8 , so far... that represents a lot of wasted money that could be well spent to benefit many of our citizens:(
I've seen a few snippets of him on TV and he is enthusiastic, energetic, and has an appealing appearance. A liberal's answer to Rand Paul, I suppose. His accomplishments in Baltimore and Maryland impress me, particularly his ability to proffer a balanced, secular agenda while being Catholic...his religion doesn't get in the way of his political philosophy. He had an alleged extramarital affair, but that seems to have been a punt from his opponents.
ReplyDeleteHis astrology is very interesting. The Saturn transit to his natal Venus you mention also involves Jupiter and Pluto. His Venus, Jupiter, and Pluto are in T-square. Saturn will affect this T-square, and transiting Neptune will activate it, too, both through the time of elections. The transiting North Node will be right on his Pluto and South Node on Jupiter at election time. Interesting that his announcement for presidential candidacy came with transiting Sun and Mars in Gemini, both transiting planets completing the T-square into a grand square...and the Gemini-Sagittarius full Moon TODAY is right on his Venus, therefore part of this natal T-square and transiting grand square. I would not normally advise someone to announce candidacy with Mercury retrograde, but he has a natal retrograde Mercury, which is supportive. The T-square and grand square are loaded with energy and it's up to him how to utilize this energy. It's almost as if he has a personal astrologer that has advised him that the time is NOW! Assuming he has skeletons rattling their bones, he could be a very viable contender. His personality, interests, and photogenic appeal may take him a distance.
I said, "Assuming he has skeletons rattling their bones...", but should have said, " Assuming he has NO skeletons rattling their bones...".
ReplyDeletethanks for the detailed astro info Mike...
ReplyDeleteI do agree , his look is VERY appealing and ya know we americans have a real THING about how someone or something, looks:) its just a fact..
now, with that said- if looks go you elected, Al Gore would have been prez by a landslide.
Sonny ~ The Republicans are crowding the scene, I suppose they think it's "their turn", and the pendulum will swing to the right. I reckon that's unlikely.
ReplyDeletemike ~ Thanks for the astrological input. O'Malley's Aquarius bits ought to draw me to him but they don't. He seems a bit light-weight (I don't mean physically) for the job of president, maybe Vice President or other office would be more his level.
ReplyDeleteLooking reasonably attractive, fit and energetic might secure him a place in the line, but I suspect that's not what people will be searching for this time around. He has no reputation of speaking out unflinchingly for the people, as has Bernie Sanders. O'Malley = Clinton-lite - I'd bet on it. Other than Bernie, I much prefer the "feel" of Jim Webb to O'Malley, but it's still possible Webb will decide not to run.
Sonny - Are things better for you and the clouds parted to allow sunshine into your life? All things pass, as is said. Hope your difficulties are in the past tense now.
ReplyDeleteTwilight - Webb spooks me...he's too conservative, which may be attractive to many. He probably has the best chance of the veterans' and gun-lovers' support.
Individuals in politics (or anything, actually) are always judged heavily on appearance, voice, and mannerisms. Charisma, eloquence with a commanding and pleasant manner of speech, and personable physicality will get the candidate quite a distance without much substance. We've elected several in the past! Ronnie Reagan is a prime example with his persona from Hollywood films. Candidates with minimal overall past experience are electable, too...Bush Jr and Obama are examples. We electorates are fickle and easily mislead.
mike (again) ~ Re Webb : He's really as much an unknown to me as O'Malley, but I did like what I read while preparing the post on him. I get the gut-feeling that he has integrity, and I prize that over everything, especially in a politician. His military background doesn't necessarily mark him as any kind of war-monger, it marks him as knowing that of which he speaks (I guess). As for the gun issue - if I'm waiting for someone to oppose that outright I shall have a very long wait!
ReplyDeleteI'm all for Bernie right now, and he's doing well so far.
The appearance/personality thing does influence the Great Unwashed, I agree. Happens in the UK also. It'd take some really bad experiences with the good-lookers and the inexperienced to sway the crowds away from that. Surely they've had enough now?
thank you for asking , Mike and the answer is a resounding YES~! Life is good and I am smiling more and contented emotionally than I have thought it possible in recent years..
ReplyDeleteMy health is greatly improved, my mental health also.. I feel so Thankful.
Sonny ~ I, too, am glad to know that Sonny! Well done indeed! :-)
ReplyDeletedare I say the word "ageism".. not something folks talk about but it sure exists in the minds of most..
ReplyDeletewebb-clinton and sanders are all OLD and that isnt something about them that can be changed..
yes I know Reagan got elected but that was many years ago.. These days its the youth of the country that swings the pendulum. at the very least Looking Young is a 100 billion dollar industry and that number increases daily:) again we go back to the subject of looks. i my opinion Reagan got elected on his looks lol , and he did have a great personality, just like Bill Clinton..
to answer your question honestly Annie- NOOOOOO we havent learned a thing..
Wanting experience, intelligence and honor to win is very admirable but it will be youth, charisma and eye/sex appeal that gets the votes.. just my opinion, of course.
ps-- Oh yea and lets not forget the "Hip Hip Hooray" factor..you know- how great we are--how great we've allllllllllllways been and how much Greater we will be..
Which ever among them than shout that message the most believably- WINS
thanks Annie.. its been a rough road but I've learned so much about whats important and what isnt..
ReplyDeleteps- I dont want to be someone who comes here and bursts your bubble about Bernie- I know you like him and since I like YOU, I wont say any more about this sort of thing.:)
Sonny ~ Yes, ageism is one tricky factor in this, sure enough. All we can do is wait and see how things unfold. Once Sanders starts to pick up steam, as he is doing, make no mistake, the opposition and the big-wigs of the DNC who want Hillary in the White House, will be after him yelling "He's OLD, too OLD!!! And a "socialist...shock horror!" I hope, when that happens, the left-leaning public is wise enough to see what's going on. I hope they'll realise that Sanders is the only candidate honestly putting THEIR interests first and foremost and not the interests of the corporations.
ReplyDeleteEven if Sanders were replaced by Eliz. Warren, same thing would have happened, she's 65, and by 2020, if she is thinking of running in the following campaign, she'll be almost 70. Unless and until some younger guy or gal starts standing up and speaking truths, we have to rely on those of more mature years to do so.
I have no truck with ageism myself, it's a poison as is racism and sexism; people still accept ageism too easily, which is sad. Numbers mean nothing if everything else is in place.
It's early days. Interesting times lie ahead.
Sonny ~ Oh - please say whatever you feel, always I do and expect everyone else will - that's essential, and what the blog is for really. :-)
ReplyDeleteSonny - I'm happy you are happy...LOL.
ReplyDeleteTwilight & Sonny - His platform is attractive to the younger voters. It's imperative for Bernie to find a potential VP running mate that will appease any fears, should he have health concerns during office. Bernie offers so much and has already stood his ground in the senate on issues:
"Bernie Sanders' Bold, New Plan May Have Just Locked Down the Millennial Vote"

"Like Elizabeth Warren? Vote Bernie Sanders"
http://gawker.com/like-elizabeth-warren-vote-bernie-sanders-1702274116
"... Even without Elizabeth Warren, there is a candidate in the race who represents true progressive ideals. That candidate is Bernie Sanders.
Bernie Sanders favors strong progressive taxation to fight the ongoing trend of massive accumulations of wealth among a tiny elite.
Bernie Sanders favors an expanded social safety net to protect the poor.
Bernie Sanders favors a single-payer public health care system for all.
Bernie Sanders favors breaking up the “Too Big to Fail” Wall Street banks that pulled the world into a global recession in 2008.
Bernie Sanders favors a $15 per hour minimum wage.
Bernie Sanders favors stronger support for organized labor.
Bernie Sanders also favors legalizing marijuana, by the way.
Compare the positions of Bernie Sanders with those of Elizabeth Warren. Anyone who feels strongly about the economic and social causes championed by Warren will have little choice but to recognize that Bernie Sanders fully embraces most of the same causes, and the same policy solutions. There is no need to make some emotional, over-the-top, campaign ad-style plea here. Look at what the candidates believe. Vote for the candidate who represents what you believe."
And one never knows...Elizabeth Warren may want to be Bernie's VP!
ReplyDeleteBernie and Elizabeth,, that would make a great ticket.
ReplyDeletemike & Sonny ~
ReplyDeleteBernie & Elizabeth - that'd be almost too good to be true! :-)
Anyway, I'm ready to change my political voter registration from Indie to Dem, so's I can vote in the primary next year - I have the form here, ready printed out and will post it in the next few days.
I think this writer is way too previous, but it's encouraging all the same, for Bernie supporters:

Nothing on the field until 2016.
ReplyDeleteJust finished binge watching all 7 seasons of "The West Wing".
I'm going to run in 2016. M̶A̶R̶G̶A̶R̶E̶T̶!̶! Er, Annie!! Do you feel like flying all about the country and putting in 18 to 20 hour days for the next 17 months? I want you to manage the campaign.
Or maybe I'll just remember and hang on to America's "Camelot".

Bob ~ LOL! I intend doing the same sometime during this summer (re-watching "West Wing" all through). Superb characterisation in that series! My favourite female character was CJ Cregg (Allison Janney) - and what a "clothes horse" she was/is for stunning evening gowns! I wouldn't want a job like hers though!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have arranged a luxurious tour bus for your campaign....or are we to tour this lovely land on a motorbike and sidecar? I can't be doing with motor cycle helmets ya know - they ruin my hair-do. ;-)
Thanks for this collection of links - I shall watch them, one or two at a time, when seeking inspiration. I remember being very nervous about the Cuban Crisis (back in England) during the run-up to my first, disastrous, marriage, which was late Sept 1962. That's the sum total of what I recall, so these videos might jog memories of what I knew of the crisis.
Enjoyed the "zinger" at the end. Didn't much like the character who did the zinging, either, though.
