Remember Astrofaces?
I'm in there somewhere - in the Aquarius/Aries/Cancer group I think. Anyone else?
Was she "Over the Rainbow"? (Click on the image to enlarge it)
From husband's vintage photograph collection. Husband's caption
Eventually everyone realized that Judy had been drinking.
("Judy", in the hat, second from right on front row of seats.)
Oldie but goodie ~
Thanks Annie and Mike for your sweet birthday wishes for me, yesterday.
ReplyDeletewishing ya'll a Merry Merry~!
Peace on Earth & "Tolerentia" seem to be different sides of the same coin. Can't have one without the other it seems.
ReplyDelete"I never said she stole my money" may be one of the reasons blog comments are difficult to assess...the reader places the emphasis where desired...probably not where the commenter intended.
Astrofaces should make their site a bit more navigable. Will the faces correlate to the information? I doubt it, but never know. Your RIP-Joe Cocker made me recall that late Taurus Sun individuals have very large eyes...something characteristic of Gemini, the next sign. Tom Daley, the Olympic diver is May 21 and has huge eyes, as does Cher (even before plastic surgery), and Joe.
It looks to me that "Judy" in the photo is actually a dummy manned by the woman behind her, a ventriloquist, no doubt. Did you notice the woman in the center with the very large wind-up key sticking out of her head?
"Simon's Cat" is much like the cat my sister has. My sister started placing the typical Xmas decorations from the ceiling in an effort to defeat her feline.
Things becoming exciting there in OK, Twilight, with pre-Xmas anticipation? You and anyjazz sipping eggnog around the space heater? Cold front on the way for this afternoon here, with a bigger front day after Xmas.
Sonny, you'd better take it all in quickly before you gain a year! Are you celebrating your bday this year, or is it always just part of Xmas? My brother-in-law has a birthday close to Xmas and he has said numerous times that HIS special day was always 2%, with Xmas 98%. My bday is typically 1% and it's not even in December...LOL.
ReplyDeleteIf only each of us could find/learn to have Peace in our own soul/mind- then perhaps there would be Peace on earth I do love that song,, Let There Be Peace on Earth and let it begin with Me.

According to the Robert Lee Camp , Love Cards, I am the 6 of hearts- thats the Peacemaker.. It fits me well:)

yes Mike I am happy to say that family and friends have always been very kind to make sure my birthday was a seperate event.
For as long as I can remember, Christmas gatherings were held on Christmas eve and Christmas day was mine.
hmm, did we just get a little hint as to Mike's birthday? giggle
ReplyDeleteSonny ~ Wise words! What we all need most is a heart, and a world, at peace - not in pieces.
ReplyDeletemike ~ Good point about blog (and no doubt Facebook and other) commentary becoming blurred by lack of the emphasis we've grown used to in REAL conversation.
ReplyDeleteAstrofaces is certainly in need of a makeover. They probably can't afford it. I didn't find anything totally convincing there, but there were a few amazing likenesses thrown up.
Re late-Taurus and large eyes - often a thing of beauty - perhaps Venus ruler of Taurus comes out clearly in the last degrees?
Yes, LOL, I don't know what that "wind-up key" thingie is in the vintage photo. Maybe a flaw or damage to the print, but too precise for that really...or decoration on the coat of the woman behind.
No...no excitement here, mike. Just trundling along as per usual. We'll attend a family get-together tomorrow evening (Christmas Eve) and on the Day it'll depend on the weather. Maybe a drive to the wildlife refuge and up Mount Scott with a packet of sandwiches, or maybe doing the couch potato thing, watching whatever Roku and our remaining free bit of Amazon Prime have to offer, with the odd tipple (but no egg nog).
Cold here today (high 40s), and again tomorrow but mid-50s promised for 25th. Then cooler again towards New Year - maybe even some snow.
Are you ready for revelling or ready for a rest?
No reveling here. I placed my fluorescent Xmas tree in the window as my sole decoration. I enjoy others' decorations, but I'm not one to indulge, mainly because I disdain the taking down aspect. Christmas doesn't have the same connotation for me that it does for the majority...the solstice was two days ago and that holds more excitement...LOL. Bulk-America celebrates this holiday as a bizarre capitalist extravaganza and I find it too weird (Chris Rock, "Saturday Night Live" http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/02/chris-rock-snl-monologue_n_6089822.html). I enjoy the children's excitement, but it has the dichotomy of those children that will receive nothing, yet endure the hype.
ReplyDeleteI saw this last night...Jimmy Fallon & One Direction do "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" with simple instruments:

HHHHHhhhhmmmmmm...the Dow Jones just topped 18,000...the higher it climbs, the harder the fall.
mike ~ I agree whole-heartedly with you and Chris Rock.
ReplyDeleteBill Watterson, Calvin & Hobbes:
Oh look, yet another Christmas TV special! How touching to have the meaning of Christmas brought to us by cola, fast food, and beer.... Who'd have ever guessed that product consumption, popular entertainment, and spirituality would mix so harmoniously?
Oh...and Ogden Nash:
People can't concentrate properly on blowing other people to pieces if their minds are poisoned by thoughts suitable to the twenty-fifth of December.
We watched the SNL cobbled-together Christmas show last evening (2 hrs!)
A bit lack-lustre I thought, with a couple of decent segments, but not enough of the very old stuff.
Dow Jones and I don't speak the same language...but I get the significance of what you've written.
I like your Calvin & Hobbs quote...apropos...and Nash's, too!
ReplyDeleteAlong the same venue as "Tolerentia" is today's Non Sequitor (December 23):

mike ~ Good one from Non Sequitor!
