Reflections of Saturn/Uranus Opposition in Canada & Oklahoma

Two examples of astrological "as above, so below" emerged right before our eyes this weekend. Above us Uranus is opposing Saturn: the red line dividing the circle (left) from approximately 1 o'clock to 7 o'clock. This opposition is interpreted by astrologers as modern or radical ideas opposing the status quo / tradition. The opposition isn't exact today, but it's well within limits. Additionally, Mercury (communication) is sitting close to Uranus - extra publicity. Here are two news items from Below which reflect what's going on Above:

1.
Already addressed by blogging buddy R.J. Adams at Sparrow Chat is the blocking of British Member of Parliament George Galloway's proposed visit to Canada. BBC News reported:

"British media reported the decision was due to his views on Afghanistan and the presence of Canadian troops there.

Mr Galloway said he was not prepared to accept what he described as an "inexplicable decision" and indicated he would challenge it with all means at his disposal.
"This has further vindicated the anti-war movement's contention that unjust wars abroad will end up consuming the very liberties that make us who we are," he said.

"All right-thinking Canadians, whether they agree with me or not, will oppose this outrageous decision."

A spokesman for Citizenship and Immigration Canada confirmed the MP would not be allowed into the country on national security grounds.
He said the decision had been taken by border security officials "based on a number of factors" in accordance with the country's immigration act.
Mr Galloway had been due to speak at a public forum, Resisting War from Gaza to Kandahar, in Toronto on 30 March. "

See also George Galloway's own piece, "Canada Can't Muzzle Me" from The Guardian, via Common Dreams. The Right Honorable gentleman has Sun conjunct Pluto in Leo, trine Mars in Sagittarius - he's a force to be reckoned with!

I'm on Uranus' side, with George G. in this! The ideals of such men are the only sane way to the future. Unfortunately few people in the US would agree with me on this. At the rate we're going, it'll be a distant future, but it will come.

2.
Our own Oklahoma State Legislature is throwing a wobbly about a lecture given by Richard Dawkins at the University of Oklahoma. (Dawkins is no friend of astrology, by the by, but that's not the topic here).

Authorities tried to stop Dawkins' lecture but it went ahead anyway. The legislature now has resolutions on the table.
Details here.

A Resolution expressing disapproval of the actions of the University of Oklahoma to indoctrinate students in the theory of evolution; opposing the invitation to Richard Dawkins to speak on campus; and directing distribution.........................

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 1ST SESSION OF THE 52ND OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:

THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives hereby expresses its disapproval of the current indoctrination of the Darwinian theory of evolution at the University of Oklahoma and further requests that an open, dignified, and fair discussion of this idea and all other ideas be engaged in on campus which is the approach that a public institution should be engaged in and which represents the desire and interest of the citizens of Oklahoma.

THAT the Oklahoma House of Representative strongly opposes the invitation to speak on the campus of the University of Oklahoma to Richard Dawkins of Oxford University, whose published statements on the theory of evolution and opinion about those who do not believe in the theory are contrary and offensive to the views and opinions of most citizens of Oklahoma.

Far be it from me to defend Richard Dawkins, for he can be as narrow-minded as the worst Oklahoman, when it suits his purpose. This episode, though, does reflect Saturn (the legislature of Oklahoma) opposing Uranus (the relatively modern theories of Dawkins, i.e. evolution).

A related article by George Lukianoff HERE.

Fate has dropped me into a pleasantly peaceful, but one of the most woefully backward, States of the USA, populated by people who seem to be living on a different plane of existence from me. We have to take the rough with the smooth, but I don't have to stay silent!

Who will win the tug-o-war? Saturn or Uranus? Canada or Galloway? Oklahoma or Dawkins?

  2. Two people there I don't have much time for, yet I would defend their freedoms always. Why are so many in the west forgetting this fundamental idea? If the west is built on anything, it's this.

  3. WWW ~~ This surprised me - but as you say, crazies are everywhere, like weeds they spread very easily too.

  4. AN ~~ The idiocy of it is, the very same people who would like to limit some freedoms are the first ones to yell if anybody mentions gun control, which could limit their own freedom to bear arms.

    Mad, mad world!

  5. And we have the new Racial and Religious Hatred law being debated in Parliament this week. Stonewall the militant gay organisation want to include homosexuality into the legislation so that you won't be able to make a joke about a gay person as that will be classed as an offence under the new law.

It seems it will be ok if you are gay, to make a joke about being gay but if of any other persuasion that will be a criminal offence!

A Judge has also just ruled that a person's "philosophical belief" in climate change and global warming can be used as a defence in an employment tribunal under religious discrimination law. There is a suggestion that if his defence is successful then this could be used to silence any debate about anything at all. So if you disagreed with something that someone sincerely "believed" in you could be prosecuted and locked up.

So the end of free speech is in sight at this rate.

  6. Rossa ~~ Hi!

That's interesting. I worked in the Employment Tribunals for 24 years, so know a wee bit about it.

I'd have thought that gay discrimination would be more in line with the Sex Discrimination Act which already exists. Gayness is nothing to do with race or religion.

The thing about gays joking about it themselves is similar to black people being free to refer to themselves in terms which others cannot use. Seems fair enough to me. And my own hobby horse, age discrimination is no different - I can call myself an old bag, but if anybody else does so, in my hearing - I'll jump on 'em. :-D

Now that part about global warming....seems to make no sense.
It sounds as though things have got way out of balance! Perhaps it has been reported out of context though. That's not unknown!!

I wonder if "belief" in astrology could be used as a defence.....Hmmmmm!

  9. Hi Twilight,

It's the incitement of the hatred of gay sexuality that they want to make a criminal offence. The premise being that anyone joking or making fun of a gay person's inclinations is either inciting hatred of that gay person or is demonstrating hatred of that person. The bill going through Parliament was drawn up for the Muslims to stop religious and racial hatred or incitement against them. A matter of thought control as well as speech.

Doesn't work the other way, so Muslims will still be free to preach hatred against the British.

There was a perfect case of this only last week when a Muslim group demonstrated at a parade of returning servicemen (from Afghanistan). Placards reading baby killers etc. When some local (white, British) people objected to the demonstrators they were the ones who were arrested for hatred against the Muslim protestors. None of the Muslims were arrested though you could say their shouts and placards were an expression of hatred against the UK, our soldiers and people. That's the way it is going here, I afraid to say.

  10. If you want to see the report about the green martyr as they are calling him, here's a link:

    http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/climate-change/tim-nicholson-a-green-martyr-1648388.html

We now also have a global warming film being shown in kindegartens and play schools that is pure, political propaganda.

    http://www.outoftheark.co.uk/eddie-the-penguin-saves-the-world-1.html

It might seem innocuous, but it is aimed at 3, 4 and 5 years olds and is currently becoming very popular in UK schools as a subject by activist teachers. It is a musical where every song blames man for every ecological disaster including melting the ice and instructs them to badger their parents to mend their ways.

Now I view this as out and out indoctrination of our children in order to support a political point of view, and of course they are too young to listen objectively to the message being rammed down their throats and question it.

Feel free to edit this comment if it's a bit too strong. Rossa

  11. Sounds like Oklahoma is turning into Oklahomistan!
I thought the terrorists 'hated us for our freedoms'. Not anymore they don't.

  12. Rossa ~~~~ thanks for the clarification.

It would seem that "fings ain't wot they used to be" over there!
Nothing fits with things as I remember them. If nothing else, the British justice system was fair, and.....well- just!

As for the global warming topic, I think I'm on the side of those who show that film, Rossa. We have only one environment and one chance to save it. If things appear to be going too far one way now, it's because too many years passed when nothing at all was done.

The message being given to the kids can't be bad - can it? Even if it is exaggerated - so what?
It's a good message - we need to be careful with our planet, it's the only one we have. :-)
